The Hanen program was suggested to me multiple times by my son’s speech therapist, however I was extremely hesitant to start. I didn’t feel like I would get much out of it, and thought my son wouldn’t get the help he needed. I couldn’t have been more wrong! This program has given me the tools I need to help him develop his vocabulary, even our 7 year old daughter has caught on to some of the tips & tricks & helps him, too! I also absolutely loved the sense of community and belonging this course provided. It was reassuring to hear other parents going through the same things as our family, and to bounce ideas off of one another! Although I had to miss quite a few classes, I feel that I’ve been given so many more tools to aid my son in developing his speech. He is slowly but surely improving; we wouldn’t be where we are today without the help and guidance from Debbie and Gloria! I highly suggest enrolling in this program if your little one has any type of speech delay.

Susan Collison If you have been struggling with chronic pain go see Bill Olson. My Doctor recommended me to go to him in 2022 to help with the chronic pain in my SI Joint and lumbar region after a fall in 2016 that hadn’t gone away. She said he deals with the more chronic and difficult cases. I tried regular PT, chiro, massage, bi-lateral SI joint injections, multiple lumbar facet joint injections and pain medications. The previous physical therapists were good but the exercises they gave me were aggravating my back and joints. On top of it all, one of the medications I was taking for my connective tissue disease caused extreme fatigue which made me stop walking and exercising, making it hard to keep up with everyday activities, which really stressed me out. Nothing gave me relief until I went to Bill. Using the Fascial Distortion Method, deep pressure techniques, stretching of muscles, nerves and other hands on manual techniques, he released entrapped nerves and other tissue in the fascia. He also worked on releasing scar tissue from previous injuries and surgeries that were causing problems in my head, neck, shoulder, ribs and back. He gave me exercises to restore muscle balance, mobility and range of motion that also helped calm the flares of my previous injuries, flares from my connective tissue disease, Sjogren’s, Spondyloarthropathy and scoliosis. Bill’s explanations of what he was doing as he treated me helped me better understand how fascia and pain interact in the body and why it is important to continue these exercises. I told Bill this is the best I have felt since before my whiplash accident in 2005. My doctor said go to Bill Olson, you’ll be surprised. I am surprised and extremely grateful. He is extremely passionate about the work he does. I highly recommend Bill. Thank you for the great care and treatment.

I am almost done with the “It Takes Two to Talk” course. This course is the Hanen training course for parents. The program is run by two SLP’s through Youthful Horizons, Gloria and Debbie. The course is a 12-week program in which parents learn how to best engage with their child to facilitate language development. Wow! I cannot say enough positive things about this course! When beginning, my son was 19 months old, and we had just started one-on-one speech therapy for an expressive language delay. He was only saying approximately four words, a few animal sounds, and used three signs. I had been following speech recommendations through SLP accounts on social media, but I did not feel like I knew enough to encourage more development and did not feel he was progressing. As I am writing this, my son is 21 months old and I have almost completed the Hanen course. He is saying 20 words, 12 animal sounds, and is trying to combine two words! My husband and I have been reading the Hanen book (provided to us by the course) together and it has completely changed how we interact with our son! It was recommended to pause one-on-one speech sessions during this course. I will say, I was quite hesitant to do so as we had just begun those sessions and I was unsure of how our son’s progress would be monitored. After the first parent session in the Hanen course, I immediately knew I would be able to pause because of the wealth of information I had occurred in one class. Our son was monitored during the 12 weeks by participating in three video recordings one-on-one with Gloria. During those one-on-one recordings, my son and I interacted as normal. Then, we would watch the video back to learn areas of improvement and discuss with Gloria how I could better utilize the tools we have learned. Therefore, my son’s progress was still being monitored by SLPs during this 12-week journey. It provided a safe space for self-reflection and suggestion without judgement. My husband and I have learned that what we were doing was not incorrect, but not necessarily giving our son the chance to lead interactions. We have learned how to take a step back and let the child lead through language, book reading, and play! It has been a game changer in our household! I strongly believe in parent education and giving parents the tools needed to succeed in this journey. The “It Takes Two to Talk” course is just that! While our time in the Hanen course is ending, Gloria has kept in contact with our previous SLP to alert her of our son’s progress. Our other SLP has already put us back on her schedule, at a reduced frequency due to our son’s progress from this course! It has been a seamless transition. I am forever thankful to Gloria and Debbie for starting this course at Youthful Horizons and for the wealth of knowledge I have learned about myself as a parent and how I can use these new skills moving forward!

Youthful Horizons is fantastic. The staff at the front desk are always very friendly and helpful. They always greet my son Phoenix and make him feel very special. Ms. Elisa has worked with Phoenix for over 2 years now and has been great with him. She has helped him and helped me and my husband so we can implement what he learns at home. I highly recommend Youthful Horizons.

Waited on the waiting list for over 8 months just to have them constantly cancel our sessions. After 4 weeks of cancellations and over $750, our progress was completely derailed and we are in the same spot we were before we started going.

My daughter's speech therapist, Molly, was very kind and helpful. My daughter looked forward to therapy, and her speech improved. My son had speech therapy with Kristen, and she was wonderful and his speech improved so much. Also, the administrative staff is helpful and empathetic. My family had a positive experience here.
