My review is specifically regarding the rehabilitation portion of the facility. I have no experience with the nursing home component. My loved one spent close to a month in a stay that should have been 2-3 weeks. While there are a few staff members who were a pleasure to interact with, the majority of people are very unfriendly and she would often cry and feel afraid of how she was treated in our absence.

So far less than 24hours in I am not impressed. Not enough staff, leaving a new discharged patient in an uncomfortable wheelchair in pain. No one answering for 3 hours. This place is a pit. The roommate's aide said "I messaged the nurse" but did not do anything to help my mother. No on responded to her. Postscript: I pulled my mother out of there in less than 48 hours. It was a terrifying experience for her. This is a place where a bunch of people were lined up in wheelchairs sitting in the hall... not good even with your own private duty aide to assist. PT had assessment completely wrong. Company tells me to contact them a month or two after I got mom out. I called them all day long and spoke to DON and PT manager. This place is truly a one star rehab not 5. Don’t let the rating fool you. Nothing was done to resolve the problems in a timely manner.

tried visiting my grandmother and the doors were locked with new hours. some people have work and don’t get home till late. especially if they wanna visit family who are here. ridiculous should be able to visit my grandmother after not seeing her for a long time and finally having free time to see her. get a new receptionist or something?

While visiting a good friend on 2/24/24, I was very impressed on how clean and pleasant smelling this facility is. I have visited many rehabilitation centers in Connecticut and cannot say the same of all. It was nice to see that my friend was in such a nice place with caring people during his rehab. Keep up the good work and thank you for what you do.

Second edit: the business responded but it was over a year later. Edit: I edited my rating a lot happened at discharge I wasn't happy with today 3/9 she was discharged and less than 24hrs later she's in the hospital because they didn't treat the UTI as well as I thought. Tabitha is still the best nurse and I commend her efforts when she was there. The social worker is often unavailable and sounds very apathetic when you speak to her. My mom should have been released with her extra meds and the correct antibiotic instead of her now going back to the ER for treatment. Because she was so weak she fell. I suggested an antibiotic based on her history of UTI and culture that came back, her doctor suggested an antibiotic as well. They gave her one that didn't do much of anything and then discharged her home. Also if you don't go home with home services or if you can't follow every single recommendation you're considered AMA and may be barred from the facility despite it not being your fault if you can't afford DME or upgrades to your home which can cost upward of 10k or more depending on the age of your home. Just a big heads up for folks looking to take home a relative from rehab I originally gave 5 stars but updated based on discharge and how many issues we ran into with her medicine, getting that medicine on time, testing/treating for a UTI, following doctors discharge or updated order, and availability of staff during the day.

My father was able to live on his own in his own home for 97+ years and five weeks ago was suddenly taken ill and needed to be placed permanently in long-term residency. We started on the rehabilitation floor and quickly and gently and respectfully moved up to the permanent residence on the third floor. To say the transition was perfect is an understatement everyone and everything went smoothly and kindly for a man of his age with great respect and dignity. The facility is absolutely wonderfully run with a staff that really cares about their patients and value and love their jobs. I highly highly recommend this facility , my heart is full, My mind is peaceful and my dad is happy. Thank you to everyone there.

My mother has been here since Thursday and when I say this schedule of staff is very different meaning the morning shift pays more attn to the patients then your night crew it’s many times I’ve expressed my feelings about theses workers that don’t care about the patients I literally had an argument with one Becuz my mother is being placed in the middle of the nursing station as she’s in detention everyone walking pass her and she’s not knowing what is going on instead of having her around people so she can have conversation with others instead of being by her self she has dementia and as I stated this evening staff is less than ur first staff so everyone is constantly busy and can’t attend to everyone they stated to me there staff is short and everyone can’t be seen so if an accident occurs your saying it’s ok to happen becuz we are in rehab not a one on one care it’s sad people treat these elderlys and with my mom having dementia she has no clue of what is going on

The overall care our father received while at Whitney Rehab was, at best, uneven. While there are some very helpful staff members, there are just as many who are not engaged and unresponsive. Unfortunately, it is this lack of compassion that, for us, overshadowed our father's care. In the end, the worst part of our experience was not the mournful passing of our father before we could transfer him to another facility, but more so that we felt no peace of mind concerning the care he was receiving while at Whitney Rehab. The final indignity is how unhelpful the administrative staff was when our mother requested the paperwork necessary to close out her deceased husband's affairs. The extended time and effort it took her to finally receive this information should not have been needed.
