Incredibly underrated, out of the world scenery We were able to access with a GMC Sierra pick-up truck, do watch out for sand traps Can't stress enough how beautiful this place is, completely worth the drive. Unlike its neighbouring The Wave, it does not (yet!) require a reservation and access is free, so take advantage! Directions are available on the website of the Vermilion Cliffs National Monument.

4 weel drive is a must. Past a few people who got stuck and had to turn around after they got free. It's hot so bring lots of water. Very pretty

White Pocket is a surreal and remote treasure in the Vermilion Cliffs National Monument, showcasing nature's abstract artistry. The landscape, characterized by swirling red and white sandstone formations, is an ethereal dreamscape that captivates the imagination. Accessing White Pocket involves a journey through rugged terrain, adding to the sense of discovery and exclusivity. The unique rock patterns, resembling frozen waves and intricate designs, make it a photographer's paradise. The area's seclusion allows for an intimate connection with the surroundings, providing a serene and meditative experience. The ever-changing play of light on the sculpted rocks creates a dynamic canvas, making White Pocket a destination that comes alive with each passing hour. Preserving the delicate environment of White Pocket is crucial, and visitors are encouraged to tread lightly and respect its pristine nature. For those seeking an off-the-beaten-path adventure and a rendezvous with geological wonders, White Pocket stands as an extraordinary destination, offering a visual feast that defies description.

Such an incredible and otherworldly place! I felt like I’d stepped out of a spaceship onto another planet. We used a tour company for this destination. You absolutely need a high clearance 4WD vehicle, and need to know how to drive one in tight and ever changing terrain. We actually came across 2 groups that had gotten stuck, and they were in capable vehicles, but still got stuck. Our tour driver knew exactly where to go, and where to avoid. Anyway, the scenery was beautiful, and there was a photo op everywhere. If you can’t get a Wave permit, then DO THIS! In fact, do White Pocket even if you DO get the Wave permit. It’s absolutely worth it! IF you choose not to use a tour company, and you’re going during the summer monsoon season, then I’d highly recommend getting there as early as possible, so you can leave by 3 and avoid the storms. And take lots of water or Gatorade.

Out of this world rock formations. Beautiful scenery and great camping. If your vehicle isn’t high clearance 4x4 don’t try to get here.
