Going in I was skeptical. The VA gets a bad rap. After getting the physical and paperwork the nurse came to the waiting room, sat down and explained the results. My private doctor does not do this. Appointments made and taken care of in a very timely manor. I was pretty impressed with the VA and this location.

This was my first visit to any VA clinic since retiring and I was very impressed with all aspects of my visit. The front desk ladies help my husband and I out tremendously by registering for all of our benefits. The NP reviewed my chart and made all the necessary recommendation for my care since we just moved to the area! The LPN provided my immunizations and drew my blood with ease. I couldn’t be happier with my entire visit. I highly recommend this VA clinic!

I have never seen a va clinic so utterly disorganized. Appointments have been made, and not held to. I have driven a goodly number of miles for a scheduled appointment only to arrive to a locked door, and a staff member ignoring my presence. If you are in need of medical care I suggest you forget about the La Junta facility, and drive the extra distance to the clinic in Pueblo. It is a waste of tax payer funds to keep this La Junta facility open.

PA is rude, has no empathy and does just enough to get by. She has no public skills to communicate and treats veterans with disrespect. She does not want to talk to you as a person. It is her way or no way. I have many health issues and she refuses to run additional test to ensure that my system is working somewhat ok. As she walked out the examination room, she said go to the lab. I had to chase her down to let her know that there were items that still needed to be discussed. After two weeks , I still have not received the order for a xray . The VA digs up these so called doctors etc that do not have a clue when dealing with vets .

Not perfect, but its clean and medical appointments are easy to come by. Mental health is a little harder to get the apts you want, but they're always available by phone. Small, but very clean and staff is extremely nice.

New Dr is very unpleasant and rude don't understand why she is even working with vets. I have tried twice talking to her about gulf war syndrome and symptoms I am having. She rudely told me v.a. doesn't train them for this and if it ain't in her book she cant diagnose it so I asked why does v.a. do studies and publish these articles which I had in hand and she rudely told me to ask the v.a.! She then tried talking to me like I was stupid and I suggested another Dr. And she got up said bye and walked out on me!
