Everyone was nice, but the room they had me in waiting on the doc was not remotely clean. I can deal with old. I can deal with outdated. I cannot deal with a dirty doctors office. I never ended up seeing the doctor at University Ortho as they had not received my nerve study and told me that they never should have made the appointment with me without having already received it. I was relieved based on what I encountered in the room and left, requesting that my copay be refunded since I didn't get to see a doctor. They did refund me. I've asked my primary care physician to refer me elsewhere. I did not report the cleanliness issue because at a certain point, they know and just don't care and that room was passed that point. Because I know the pictures aren't the best, I encountered: -Spills on 3 of the 4 walls, some looking like blood, but realistically were probably betadine. -Layers of dust on exam furniture -Debris on the counter with a spill on one of the trays holding their supplies. -The containers of betadine were also left open on the counter. I would assume something that is intended to sanitize shouldn't just be left open. -Furniture is worn out---While not really a cleanliness issue, with all the actual cleanliness issues in this room, old beat-up furniture amplifies the feeling that you are in a filthy room.

The office staff was incredibly nice. I felt like I had been a patient in their office for years and this was just my first appointment. I saw Dr. McCabe, who came HIGHLY recommended. He was absolutely great! Took the time to explain things to me and showed me my images they took in office and the one I had from before I saw him in the office. His bedside manner was terrific. This was the first orthopedist I had ever seen, and I don’t want to see anyone else!

Called to schedule an appointment and received an automated notification that my call was third in line. I waited on hold for 15 minutes and when someone did answer the phone, despite me saying "hello" three times, I never received a response and was hungup on. I called back immediately with the hope that I would not have to wait again and, after 5 minutes on hold, the automated notification told me that I was third in line again, so I hung up. As someone trying to schedule their new patient appointment, the experience with this office started off bad and I will not make another attempt to schedule.

The VA sent me to see Dr. Claytor about my back pain back in April 2024. He scheduled me for an MRI and a follow up when the results came back. After looking at the results, Dr. Claytor stated that I should try the 3 injections at Spine Care followed up by physical therapy instead of surgery. I went thru the 3 injections and 15 rounds of physical therapy with the back pain getting worse. I scheduled another appointment with him on June 21 and while sitting outside in the waiting room, Dr. Claytor came out to the front desk, and he didn't know I could hear him, and said, "Please tell Mr. Caudle there is nothing else I can do for him, he's VA." When I heard that, I didn't know what to think. I have BCBS insurance thru my work if VA didn't pay good enough. But just the fact that he said that pissed me off to the max. The fact that he wouldn't have the decency to talk to me in person to hear that the pain had gotten much worse and was now going down my left leg was very concerning. They called me up and said I could go see his nurse practioner at the other office, Erica. So I went over there and saw her. She is amazing and caring. Something Dr. Claytor is very lacking. I told her what he had said and she was dumbfounded. She ordered another MRI to see what had changed from the first MRI and said she would follow up with me with the results. A week later, I went back to see her and sure enough, it had gotten worse. But, I would not be willing to let Dr. Claytor even operate on my pinky toe at this point. I had already let the VA know this and they totally understood. I had the nurse at University Ortho send the results to the VA. The Neurologist looked at it and agreed that surgery was indeed needed at this point. They are now scheduling me to have the needed surgery at UAB. As far as Dr. Claytor goes, I would run, espcially if you are a United States Veteran.

I have a, medical condition of the Spine and Neck. Developed Carpal-Tunnel in both arms and hands, caused numbness and tingling in my hands as well. Claytor requested a "NEW" MRI and after I got my results from my Spine Care Doctor, I knew what changed and why the pain and discomfort had increased. So even I am aware of what my MRI revealed. And why it's been VERY PAINFUL physically. After I arrived here to see Claytor, NOT ONCE, did he go over the MRI results HE requested. But asked me what I was there for.🫤!!!!! ( Smart way to get paid from an Insurance company for not doing your job. Then began to give HIS suggestions on what I should do, after my own doctor suggested NOT doing those things. Claytor spoke every single thing possible to discourage me to not choose what I know is Best for me. Not knowing I have family members in the Medical Field. Billed my Insurance for free money on an MRI, he didn't use it, showed zero interest in what those MRI results showed, then showed his UNPROFESSIONAL true colors as a (whatever doctor) he proclaimed to be, when his BIAS ways and behavior tells it all. But it wasn't the first time he has shown it. His reviews from those in the past spoke about the displeasure that others have experienced from him. Took an Oath and doesn't abide by it, unless he chooses to with whatever patient he chooses to show it toward. He is the WORST doctor you can deal with. When his morals are money over patient care. The only thing that was pleasant about going there was the staff who works with him, and even they deserve better than that. I would NEVER recommend anyone to see him. It's extremely sad and pathetic you have individuals who are in the Medical Field whose mindset is like his. That's a certain level of dangerous dealings, when seeking professional care for your well-being to deal with those like him dr. claytor, in small caps.

I was referred here from Med Center South for a fractured heel. The positive thing was that, for the most part, the staff was nice. As is typical with most doctor visits, I was there for over two hours. I did all the online check in the day before and, of course, repeated much of the same once o got there. They were unable to read the X-ray I was given at Med Center so they did another one. After all this, Jr. came in and told me how bad heel fractures could be, long recovery time, etc. Then he proceeded to tell me they don’t do feet anymore??!! First, why was I referred there if they didn’t and secondly, why did I sit there for two hours, get X-rayed, and given a big walking boot??? I guess they got to charge office visit, X-ray and boot to insurance. Very strange experience to say the least. I can speak to the quality of care of the physician (Jr.) because I didn’t get any!! If I should ever need orthopedic services in the future, I would not be coming back here!

Staff is nice. As far as care for a patient, I would not recommend. I have been here twice in the past five years. Once in 18 with a partially torn ACL and was given a Cortisone shot in the knee and sent on my way. FYI the shot did nothing. So I return today hoping for something slightly different but guess what. Possibly have a partially torn Meniscus and you guessed it! A Cortisone shot to the knee. These shots do not work for real pain and discomfort. Wasn't even offered PT. I would not recommend this location to anyone if you are looking for legitimate help.

Dr Thompson had to do a total elbow arthroplasty. Everyone at his office was awesome. The nurses, scheduler and of course Dr Thompson. I highly recommend this group. Very personal, professional and very caring.
