University Foot and Ankle Institute, Sherman Oaks

I saw Dr. Baravarian after rupturing my left Achilles tendon (at the age of 74). He recommended surgery, for reasons that he carefully explained, and performed the operation four weeks ago. The surgery was completely successful, and in a couple of weeks I will progress from a non-weight-bearing cast to a walking boot. Dr. Baravarian is a highly skilled surgeon and, just as important, a kind and patient doctor who has been attentive to all my questions and concerns. I am deeply grateful to him, and to all his staff (including Dr. Kwon, Adrian, and the friendly ladies at the front desk), for his expert care throughout this challenging process, and I look forward confidently to a full recovery in a few months.

Very disappointing experience. My foot pain (diagnosed as a bone spur) was mid range opposed to severe and I felt this caused me to be taken less seriously by the doctor since surgery was not imminent. No care was given to help me understand how to improve the situation and avoid surgery, just an expensive pain cream prescribed and told to come back in 6 weeks. His only "suggestion" was to throw out my shoes because they're too soft and causing my bone to jam. I did some research and found way more practical options to help my foot pain and it has improved from my own care, nothing that I spent a few hundred dollars to get his opinion about. I spent over an hour waiting to have the doctor give me his "expertise" and attention for 2 minutes. Since I'm paying out of pocket (hsa) through a high deductible insurance plan, this felt like such a rip off!

The foot MRI in Santa Monica was a GODSEND for claustrophobics like me!! Everyone in Sta.Monica AND Sherman Oaks(I was at both locations)was kind and so excellent. I plan to have foot surgery with them in the fall, and I know that will have a great outcome, too. Thanks to Alex, Dr. Adloo, and Dr. Baravarian for their many kindnesses!

This operation runs like a well oiled machine! Every aspect has been smooth and easy. Doctor Baravarian has been awesome and very caring. His attention to detail is great! I didn’t want to drive too far to their physical therapy institute after surgery, so Dr. recommended excellent service near my home.👍

All I can say about this place is, you will see miracles with your own eyes. I went to their office in Sherman Oaks and I had a pleasure to meet Dr Gina, who is absolutely an angel. She has heart for her patients and cares about them. Super positive attitude which makes your pain go away in the first visit. Very knowledgeable and most importantly she understands you. Thank you so much for everything you have done Dr. Highly recommended

There are only a couple of things I was unhappy with. 1. I was never told about the option for purchasing a waterproof boot cover until I had failed at using a trash bag. As a result, I had to arrange a ride to the Santa Monica office to rebandage my foot. 2. The receptionists are not very friendly and therefore give a negative first impression to patients. One of them continually wears her mask under her nose instead of covering it. Otherwise, my experience with Dr. Baravarian and his technician as a positive one.

I had surgery on my small toe on my right foot. After surgery I had absolutely no pain. I was impressed with the skill of Dr Baravarian. The anesthesiologist was the best. All the staff and nurses are very friendly and respectful. I had a very good experience.
