UC San Diego Health Sports Medicine – Genesee Ave

I’ve never been to a more heartless medical office that should be caring toward patients. I arrived to my appointment 10 minutes late and they refused to see me. I checked in online prior to my appointment and the only reason I was late was that there are 2 buildings connecting the parking garage that are identical and I accidentally went to the other building first. You’d have thought that they would have been understanding but no flat out refused to see me. That is not a way to treat patients who are coming to see you with a severe medical issue. I’ve never been treated that way in my life. The lack of understanding and compassion was unacceptable. Oh and there was literally only one other person in the waiting room. I won’t be going back.

First, this office does not call to remind you of your appointment so you better write it down or mark it in you phone/calendar. They will not accommodate you if you're late. Me being late is my fault and I totally understand and accept that. Second, the front desk staff, dark haired guy, is miserable in his job and takes it out on the patients. After rescheduling my appointment, with considerable attitude, I asked to fill out the usual forms so I didn't have to do it when I came back in two days. Again, total attitude, basically threw the papers at me and I had to ask for clipboard and pen to write on/with. Then when I'm done filling out the forms, he refuses to take the forms and tells me I have to give them to the nurse that I end up seeing several days from today. The Doctors may be good, though I haven't even gotten to see one yet, but the front desk staff are miserable. Good luck with them if you decide on this Doctor's Office.

I understand the patient volume is high but I think once you FINALLY do get in, They come off as caring and interested but theyre just another " take two of these and call me never" kind of place. I was dissapointed with a couple of doctors here in la jolla campus. My autistic adult child continues to go on struggling without further care from these doctors. I was really hoping they were going to be that light at the end of the tunnel but they genuinely DONT CARE. Youre just another number there.

This Genesee practice is the only listing for UCSD Sports Medicine, but my review is for the UCSD Sports Medicine practice on Executive Drive. My son came here for concussion diagnosis and treatment, and now he is here for rehab for a baseball arm injury. The trainer, James Smuda, is excellent. His extensive experience includes several years with a very strong NCAA Division I baseball program. He really knows what he is doing, and he is helping my son fix his mechanics in hopes of avoiding surgery down the road. Highly recommended.

You pretty much have to dedicate a day just to be seen. And that's if they schedule you for a visit within 2 months of your first call. It's also extremely difficult to get a hold of anyone and takes forever when you do talk with someone

I love my doctor but the office staff and trying to get ahold of them now that’s another story I really do not like UCSD doctors they are about getting you in and out as fast as possible

I've been here a few times and after having a other doctors in the area, this location has very friendly and attentive staff. I felt cared for and listened to. I would recommend this facility .

Still two months in another referral. Front desk and doctor merrill never follow up.
