I went in not feeling well with my asthma and I was coughing extremely bad. Tested negative for flu and everything else. My asthma was just flared up so bad. The front desk receptionist guy was very nice and all the staff was really nice as well. Saw Dr. Andrew Allen and he was on point and listened to me .Dr. Allen treated me with respect he knew just what to do. He prescribed me all the meds I needed. I Enjoy this Urgent Care đź’śUrgentCcare Everytime I do have to go

Recently visited was not treated properly it was obvious PA was either ready to go or not interested in my health. No meds prescribed for symptoms except for my cough and I been sick since Friday. Was told antibiotics will not work until 10 days after onset of symptoms. Now I’m here at Hoover’s Freestanding ER feeling worst because I was not properly treated. Unacceptable treatment and patient care.

I have called 8-10 times and no one has answered my calls. I arrived to the urgent care just for there to be 4 people in the waiting room, but the receptionist was “too busy.” The receptionist name was Robert Dixon. I am very displeased with UAB’s services today.

i went here yesterday (7/26) because the left side of my throat was close to be swollen shut. went in triage and they didn’t take any blood but tested for covid, flu, and strep. i was asked if i wanted to be tested for mono… isn’t that the doctors job to figure out? the NP felt my around my throat, although there was a huge swollen node, was told i could probably feel it better than she could. ending result: tests came back negative but was told to gargle warm salt water and buy numbing lozenges. I went to Trust Care off of Montclair today (7/27) and i was in and out in less than an hour, walked out with antibiotics for strep throat and a steroid shot. Please never go here. You would think that since it is a UAB establishment they’d be more proactive to help you.

I was out of town and literally on my way to the airport in pain. Went to UAB, they were so nice, accommodating, and cognizant of my flight time. I was in and out thanks to the team and thanks to the NP who saw me and quickly prescribed the right antibiotics to get me started on recovering.

First I would like to thank you for what you doing guys and remained strong. I would like to start my review thanking Andrew CRNP as I believe in recognition. Andrew make me change how I think about uab urgent care and made my experience different. He was dedicated and very thorough in his assessment with our preferences of females to check my wife he try to find another health worker to do the check and he stand for his patient, also he was following up and time managing and make us aware about availability for him today. Thank you very much

Went in because I had covid symptoms, test came back negative and the nurse just looked at me and said "yeah you tested negative so you are fine". Even though I felt like I could be on a death bed at that point. I didn't know what to suggest so I reply "what should I do? I feel terrible" and she said "well, I guess you could see the doctor if you want". I went with it because I had no other clue what to do. The doctor recommended a panel test to rule out RSV and other viruses, I agreed. She said I would receive a phone call 2 days later with the results. This phone call never happened and instead I receive a bill for 300 dollars for laboratory results before I decided to call back and check. "Oh yeah, if we don't call back that means you didn't test positive for anything". Great, I am stuck with a 300 dollar bill and have no further information on why I felt so terrible. Thanks!

I do not recommend this urgent care. My son who is a college student in Birmingham started feeling unwell Sunday night, & progressively got worse during the day on Monday. Symptoms - headache at the top of the head, dizziness -causing vertigo, nausea, possible fever. This is a condition my son has dealt with many times in his lifetime, usual diagnosis is sinus & or ear infection, affecting his equilibrium. Not being from the Birmingham area we were unsure of a competent urgent care facility but decided anything attached with the UAB name must give excellent care. WRONG! The nurse & phlebotomist were very compassionate, however when for whatever reason it was decided IV fluids were needed, (he was not vomiting, nor having diarrhea, so I doubt he was dehydrated) the nurse missed his vein so he never received any fluids, nor was she able to draw blood for a cbc test. The phlebotomist was phenomenal, she was able to distract him and draw blood. The doctor is where I have the real issue, and that as soon as he found out, he was a college student, he immediately wanted to push the idea that he may have viral meningitis, even telling my son it could be tick borne-scaring my son beyond belief. The dr asked him a series of questions to which the answers were "No" basically removing him from a diagnosis of viral meningitis, - even tick borne. He was tested for flu, covid- negative. As well as a viral test that would take 24 hours for the results to come in. (now been 38 hrs -no call) I drove up on Tuesday and took him to a different urgent care near Grandview hospital where he was listened to regarding his symptoms, checked over from head to toe, & read, tested for flu Covid, and strep- all negative. Diagnosed with dual ear infections, as well as a sinus infection. (which is what I suspected from the get-go) The doctor could not believe how much fluid he had in his ears. Take away, just because the name says UAB does it mean you are going to get quality care!!
