UAB 1917 Clinic at Dewberry

UAB never fails. My experience once again was exceptional. They always make me feel relaxed and not judged and they work well with people who do not have insurance and are limited with out of pocket cost. The facilities are well kept and the staff are always professional. It is so comforting to know those students will be the future of the medical field and thank you to those who teach them as well.

You know, every person and business ha an occasional off day where things just don't fall into place. To all those submitting scathing reviews, I would venture to say at least PART of the issue lay on your shoulders. The staff at 1917 are overworked but every single visit I've had has been exceptional. Scheduling has never been a problem and the demeanor and attitudes of the staff have always been polite, extremely helpful, and genuinely want to help the patients. I would recommend giving them another shot. If it's not any better after that, contact the patient advocate at the clinic and I guarantee the staff will get back to you as quickly as possible. We all need to realize we are not the only patient they have, so showing a little patience would go a long way. Every aspect of the clinic in 1917 has been exceptional and I feel so very fortunate to live in a community that has such a spectacular and outstanding Clinic.

Clinic canceled our six month dental cleaning appointments on October 23, 2023 the morning of appointment, because of no doctor in clinic. They are now claiming they have NO available appointments until possibly June of 2024. The dental clinic has really lost the greatness it once had! Sad!

This place had a novel solution to culling extra patients: they get your insurance cancelled so eventually you die. They didn't take responsibility for their mistakes and found ANY excuse to cancel your appointments. Then they have records of missed appointments that THEY screwed up, but they will blame the patient. I know they are overwhelmed but blaming the patient will only backfire. It's been literally years since I've gotten a checkup with the dentist. Not sure why. Bring witnesses because they will sure screw your appointments up if you are alone. Not much you can do if you're not satisfied, either. Great care. Great doctors, great staff, etc. Hopefully they've gotten their act together. *UPDATE* Six months after this review and I STILL haven't seen the dentist.

The service etiquette and unprofessional demeanor of the physicians and nurses is a disgrace to the medical proffesion. They should have their liscences revoked or should really consider more training. Needless to say I've been a patient here for 5 years and have never had reason to complain.

The 1917 Clinic has gone above and beyond to assist me since I've moved to Alabama. I was diagnosed HIV+ in 2017, moved to Alabama in 2018, and they have helped me restructure my life as I've cleaned up and gotten sober. Dr. Saag has saved countless lives in his career, and mine was one of them.

This place is has has been a godsend that taking care of myself and my partner it's so many ways we would not be where we are today if it wasn't for them we only have praises for them them all of the nurses are incredible the doctors are wonderful and a big shout-out to Julia social worker as she has been in our corner ever since we've we've been coming my partner's has had to have multiple hospitalizations at UAB and they are with always call and check on us

The clinic is inside the building at 3220 on the second floor. Big parking lot. Excellent modern facility. Just needs to be either more promoted or to confirm the location in the Google maps because through the app is not easy to find it and the message the map displays is "location is aprox" 🤷🏼‍♀️
