The operations and policies of this clinic are poor at best. Dr. Lo however is really good. I've listed her as my Primary Care Physician since 2013. When she left her previous practice in 2015 (+/-) I followed Dr. Lo to this provider clinic. None of this history matters to those running this program.
Today I was told that I was now considered a "new patient", that Dr. Lo was not accepting any "new patients" and I would therefore be scheduled to see their new PA. It was explained to me that I had not seen Dr Lo since 2016, therefore I had lost my "current patient" status. It was never explained to me prior that in order to maintain active status I would need to see her at least once a year.
The reason I have not seen Dr Lo is because I've been healthy enough over the years to not need her care for any significant or chronic health conditions. My only needs for a doctor have been relatively minor emergent conditions that warranted immedite care. When I've called for an appointment (at least 6 times over the last 3 years) I've been told every time that it would be 7 - 10 days before they could take me. Which, in the case of one-off illnesses, minor sports or work injuries etc does me no good. So I would go to the local Adventist system prompt care and be seen within an hour or two.
So... in order to maintain ones "current patient" status you need to see their doctor at least a couple times a year, but they will make it next to impossible to get you an appointment within a time frame that will actually benefit the condition you need to see a doctor for. If you are chronically unhealthy and need to been seen regularly, your good. If you are really healthy and rarely need to see a doctor, they may toss you at their first opportunity.
It appears they are trying to build the patient load of thier new Assistant or PA or whatever he his. If you're cool with something less than a real Doctor, go for it. Otherwise, good luck seeing a real Dr. through this provider.
