It's more of an easy stroll than a hike. There's not many people. There's lots of lush vegetation, great views and benches sprinkled around vista points. I think anyone could enjoy this. Some spots remind me of the neighborhood in My Neighbor Totoro, particularly the scene where the main character is crawling under the branches/bushes/undergrowth.

Beautiful lush trail and good moderate workout with lovely ocean and harbor views, and several resting areas. Beware of the spur- It's off the loop- on the west ocean side that dead ends. 40% inclines and some areas on south hill have loose dry rocks. Can be slippery! Beautiful Stone Cross from 13th Century at the top!

Best bang for your buck hike I’ve been on. So much to see in just one mile. I definitely recommend the spurs because that’s where the best views are. Enjoy!

One of the most beautiful trails I've ever hiked. It's a steep but short loop and includes lots of cool spur trails you can take to get panoramic ocean views. The greenery tunnels provide a whimsical touch and the views are unmatched. Parking is easy and adjacent to a nice beach.

Whether you're a well aged hiker, a dog walker or an alien from Andromeda, you will enjoy this easy-going hike. If you hurry, it can be as short as 25 minutes to do this loop with epic views of State Beach, the pier, and sunsets into the Pacific Ocean. A paved trail takes you up from the parking lot and gives you the option to stay on it or to do the loop looking over the ocean. The loop is not difficult and just enough to break a sweat and get the blood flowing. Dogs are kept on leashes here, and locals will be quick to make sure you use the poop bags provided at the beginning of the trail. Rumor has it there is a bag pipe player here that magicialy teleports from Scotland to play his music at sunset on occasion. 🤷‍♂️

Steep when you first start, then levels off. Beautiful trees, with views of the ocean at times. Starts with a paved path and then turns to dirt after the steepest part. Benches every once in a while, if you need a break. Overall, it was very pretty, relaxing, and 100% worth it.

Easy drive up to a free parking area. Literally no hiking. Beautiful views. An absolute must see.
