I am so grateful to have found our Speech Therapist Blair Parker, here in Albany GA. She has worked around hurricanes, pandemics, vacations, holidays, my spacey forgetfulness to get our Autistic son therapy twice a week for the last 5 years. Thanks to her caring diligence we are still making progress at age 18. So many therapy providers want to quit on you at age 12-14. But he is working on idioms! From non verbal at age 18 months to speaking sentences. Progress has come in small increments and then in sudden in spurts. It’s so nice to have a partner in the “never accept defeat” parenting realm. His Autism, With a large side dose of Tourette’s Syndrome, has needed patience, research, out of the box approaches. He can’t answer a “why” question consistently, BUT he does respond to “tell me”. You want new progress? Write new goals! You want better? Work with someone who will try something different.
