The Power of Speech

Power of Speech is amazing! Given Jessica's reputation in the community as an advocate for neurodiversity acceptance, we sought occupational therapy through her practice for our AuADHD daughter. She's having the best experience working with Liz! The combination of learning practical skills and how to identify and advocate for her own needs is visibly boosting her self-confidence in addition to her capabilities. So glad we found this practice!

We’ve been working with Power of Speech for our daughter’s speech therapy for two months. Jessica, the owner, got us in promptly for evaluation with Katie and set up a course of action based on the results. Katie meets my daughter at the JCC and is the highlight of her week. We’ve noticed quick improvements in her speech and Katie provides us details of each session and how we can support at home. It is such an added benefit to have the Power of Speech directly at the JCC toddler program, allowing for therapy right in the classroom. This program is amazing and so is Katie!

Jessica Brown and her team of SLPs, OTs and IEP consultants have the "it" factor - they have that amazing ability to truly connect with kids and do transformative work in a fun and engaging way. My 3 year old looks forward to his sessions and within the past year, thanks to their work, his communication skills have exploded and he has a much greater capacity to self-regulate. I can't recommend Power of Speech highly enough!

We loved working with Jessica at the Power of Speech for our daughter’s speech concerns. Jessica teaches speech mainly through play so our daughter felt like she was just going to play during each session. At the same time, Jessica had a very specific list of goals she wanted to reach with our daughter and she worked through them diligently. She kept us informed about how each session went and gave us suggestions for how to practice at home. We would 100% recommend Jessica to anyone looking for a speech therapist.

Our son loves working with Jessica! She is kind, fun, patient, knowledgeable, and supportive. We love that she is neurodiversity affirming, that her therapy is play based, and that she uses his special interests to meaningfully connect with him. Jessica helped us to learn more about Gestalt Language Processing and how best to support him. We have seen amazing progress in our son's language development since starting with her.

Our family’s experience with The Power of Speech has been absolutely incredible! After meeting Jessica during our first session, I can confidently say our outlook on speech therapy completely changed. Jessica’s sessions are fun and engaging for kids. Our daughter often receives speech therapy without even realizing it, all while blowing bubbles, swinging on swings, or building forts. During the last year, our daughter has made significant progress with Jessica, and she continues to become more intelligible with each session. Furthermore, Jessica’s expertise in speech and language pathology is unmatched. Within 15 minutes of meeting our daughter, she picked up on a speech disorder that had ultimately been missed by others. Additionally, our daughter receives speech services through the public schools. Jessica not only communicates with the school SLP throughout the year, but also strongly advocates for her and is a resource during our annual IEP meeting. Finally, as a parent of a child with a speech disorder, I can state without reservation Jessica has been incredible to work with. She is always thinking of different games and ways we can incorporate “speech” into our everyday lives. It is not uncommon to receive emails from Jessica with links and other research she has found that might further help our daughter, and for that we are thankful. Jessica has been an absolute blessing for our family, and we strongly recommend The Power of Speech to anyone looking for speech therapy!

After a less than stellar experience at a large speech therapy practice, we found The Power of Speech. Jess was immediately engaging, and excited to get to know our 5 year old. He sees her twice a week and even after 10 months, he is still EXCITED to go to his “talking teacher”. She always has new activities and games to keep him engaged, but most importantly, he’s made incredible progress. When my 1.5 year old wasn’t talking and we were referred for speech, she started seeing Jess. She gave us exercises to practice at home to support her between sessions, and after a couple months, our daughter is meeting her milestones and no longer needs speech therapy. We are forever grateful for Jess and highly recommend her!

My daughter absolutely loves Jess! She makes speech so fun that she doesn’t even know she’s doing work. Her space is perfect for the kids and even has a swing! Literally my daughters favorite part of her week. We do this in addition to public speech and have seen a huge improvement. I love how much feedback I get after every session from Jess. I absolutely recommend!
