The Point Occupational Therapy

I am so grateful to The Point Occupational Therapy.  We have known Cortney for years.  She was our twin-boys OT years ago and when we need to change our long-time Occupational Therapist we thought of her right away.  Cortney is extremely attentive and responsive to emails.  With short notice, Cortney was able to find an OT, Ms. Micky, to come to our house and see our four children.  Ms. Micky is really a gem and all 4 kids hit it off with her right away.  My kids have varying needs and temperaments and she expertly individualizes sessions to both increase their skills and incorporate their interests.  She comes in with a plan but can completely pivot if necessary.  She works seamlessly with other members of our kids' teams.  My one son attends vision therapy and she works on his vision homework exercises with him and corresponds directly with his VT.  She will be away this summer and we would rather pause sessions than introduce a new OT-that's how special she is.

I have nothing but positive things to say about Cortney. My two boys received occupational therapy from her for 2 years, from the ages of 3 and 2. My oldest has ASD and is notoriously hard to motivate. My youngest had developmental delays and SPD with a lot of tactile sensitivity. Cortney tailored their program to be specific to their needs and personalities. She got to know them on a deep level and really listened to them. For example, when my oldest was into dressing up as super heroes, he would wear a costume and pretend to be Batman in the OT gym. When my youngest was sad that he didn’t have a Rudolph nose like his brother, she found materials so that they could make one together. (Motivated happy kids working on their goals). She’s able to pivot based on their needs and mood so that therapy is successful. I was constantly impressed with the progress they made. She was also wonderful about communicating their goals, challenges and progress to me and was also available to answer any questions. We live in a different state now, but I still feel comfortable asking her questions and sharing the boys’ progress. She is kind, patient, flexible, loving and she knows her stuff.

We love love love The Point! We have been seeing Miss Mikkayla for 6 months and she is the absolute best! She goes above and beyond for my son and has been incredibly helpful communicating with us, his school, and other therapists. We could not have gotten through this school year without her! Cortney has also been amazing in helping us navigate the OT process, working with our ever changing schedule, and providing us with awesome opportunities like OT groups!

Cortney is remarkable. We have seen leaps and bounds of improvement since working with her. She takes her time to establish a rapport with each child, and somehow finds the perfect balance of challenging them while not pushing too hard. She is warm, caring, professional, and incredibly responsive. The kids love her, and look forward to their sessions each week. I can't recommend her highly enough.

Working with Cortney and The Point Occupational Therapy has changed not only our son's development but the way we think about OT and supporting kids with the skills they need to thrive. We are so grateful to Cortney!
