Urgent Alert to All Residents and Service Members in San Diego County: This announcement serves as a solemn warning about the operations of Tender Loving Mercy in Oceanside, California, particularly for those who have served our country with honor and those currently in service, including Camp Pendleton Marines, Veterans, Disabled Veterans, Retired Military Service Members, Gold Star Families, and concerned Civilians. On November 2nd, 2018, in a moment of critical medical distress, rather than being expedited to emergency medical care, I was taken advantage of by the owner/operator of Tender Loving Mercy. Under the guise of transportation to the VA Hospital in La Jolla, I was coerced into withdrawing $2,500 from my bank account at a local Wells Fargo, despite my urgent need for medical intervention. This detour for money, taken while I was in excruciating pain and in a compromised state, was not just unethical-it was cruel. The memory of that day is etched in my mind, as it was the last day I walked on both legs. By evening, I underwent an emergency amputation. The actions of this individual reveal a concerning lack of moral compass and a blatant disregard for the well-being of a person in their care. The prioritization of personal gain over the immediate medical needs of a vulnerable individual speaks volumes of the character and practices of the owner. Beyond this incident, the living conditions I endured were nothing short of deplorable. The house was rife with unsanitary conditions, including bed bugs and rodents, a breeding ground for the infection that ultimately led to my amputation. To those who find themselves in need of assistance, be wary of this establishment. If you are a recipient of any benefits such as Social Security, Disability, Veterans Compensation, or other federal aid, your vulnerability may be exploited. I am currently writing a book to shed light on these dark practices, dedicated to my experience with Tender Loving Mercy. It is my hope that this account will serve as a beacon of truth, illuminating the predatory behaviors that lurk behind the facade of care. Stay informed, stay vigilant, and may this serve as a dire warning to all who may cross paths with this establishment.

This place is awful! They will release your loved on Thanksgiving with no other place to go. Not to mention that they will steal your loved ones personal items and claim they can’t find them. How do you misplace a 5 foot shamu stuffed animal? Also they have community meetings at a location that has at least 20 people using in front of their center for community meetings. They will not notify social security or medical that your loved one is out of jail and therefore your loved one won’t be able to get medications unless someone cash pays for the medicine. They are understaffed.

I was there in 2015 after my dad's death I hadn't used in 28 years but after my dad died, I used, my probation officer put me here against my will, which one of my housemates broke protocol and I told her about it and the owner told me to leave with no phone or money, I had to borrow a phone and ride to the police department from a stranger, the sergeant said the owner was wrong, to make a long story short the owner had the audacity to tell me to come back in three days for my property which was entirely illegal he's lucky I didn't press charges against him because that's what the sergeant had suggested, I would have had the place shut down, I would give less than one star but that's not possible, money oriented only, ******please don't go here to get sober *****. If you ask me TLM stands for torture, lies and mayhem.

OMG! Run in the opposite direction! This place is only good for those seeking a prison-like atmosphere. The only difference is that there are no bars. This is NOT sober living. When I called TLM to find out what their sober living was about I was told it was a beautiful 5 bedroom home with lots of storage etc. When I got to the house I was mortified! The living conditions are deplorable! I literally could not believe my own eyes! You're not even allowed to cook your own food and the refrigerators are locked. You eat WHAT they say and WHEN they say. And the food is disgusting! The Staff members are extremely controlling! They listen to private phone conversations and Interrupt them with their input so they eavesdrop! I lasted only one night and didn't sleep at all And when I met with staff in the morning to say that I knew without any doubt I was in the wrong place, the owner turned into a complete bully! They use intimidation tactics to get you to stay and talk over you so that you cannot complete a single sentence. When I told them I was leaving the program they made me leave the property immediately without my belongings. It's clearly all about money! HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!!!! Oh I forgot to mention, they wont give a refund for the months rent that was paid even though I was only there for 15 hours and have refused to give me copies of any of the papers I signed!

I was lost, clueless, and facing 3 years in prison when I first came here and over the past year I've learned taught respect, integrity, and accountability and now I'm 6 months sober and actually willing to live sober I have felt really welcome here and the staff has been very understanding. All houses have ocean views this has to be one of the best treatment facilities available, if not the best in.

This place was made with strong ethics in helping people with drug addictions/alcoholic addictions as well as behavioral modifications with structured program. As people who help other people, know that it's not easy with these diseases of addiction and that everyone needs help in life. For this place to be here and helps in anyway shape or form, is a blessing because they will help you as best they could! Even if you don't decide to get into this place or have family come or whatever the situation is, they still give you other places or recommendations to other programs or shelters just to help anyway they can.

Great experience, but overall wouldn't recommend this program. Great events for fourth of July, weekly outings, and family members. Too expensive, and poor shelter for clients. Too many rules to follow. None of the staff is really certified.

This place is a complete JOKE!!!!! they take advantage of people who ACTUALLY need help and their families. The owner is a crook, liar, thief, and overall complete FRAUD!!! Stealing the resident's EBT cards and profiting off of that and just overall unprofessional!!! The staff is also a joke. Everyone at this place is fake and only wants your money. They do NOT care about these men at all!!!!
