My 80-year-old sister has been at Sunset Manor for about 2 years. She continues to have excellent care. The aids, nursing staff and administrators are proactive and very responsive to all requests. It’s always clean and rarely smells. They have been great about setting monthly plans as a team and monitor her closely on a daily basis. The only problem I have right now with them is they have a phone system that is not fully functional - but other than that, they’re doing a great job!

My wife did some checking on facilities that offered sub acute care which by the way not many around, she was pleased from the beginning because of the professional and friendly voice that answered her call. I was admitted on Oct.3, 2023 and was there for a a whole month for post op care due to major surgery due to cancer, which left me unable to speak, a G tube for feeding and a wound in my arm that required daily dressing changed. .we highly recommend this facility because of their qualified staff. All of the employees were professional , caring and friendly. They really cared for your well being and made you comfortable. We feel that we were lucky to find this place and do not hesitate to recommend this facility. There are so many employees that helped me get thru this that I am unable to list, but each one knows who they are and we thank them from the bottom of our hearts.

Almost all the nurses in the facility only work for their paychecks. Don't even know how to do things. There a nurse I talked to on the first night get transferred to this facility, the nurse ignored me and walked out for break. If you end up being a patient there, chances are it will be the sunset of your life.

In the beginning of my fathers hospitalization I was disappointed with the way my father was being took care of .At First there were issues I was concerned about but after bringing it to the staffs attention all issues were discussed and properly addressed my outlook on staff has completely changed and I’m happy for the way my father has been being took care of . I’m 100% happy with staff and nurses and services provided here for my father in the last 8 months .Thank you SM .

Love this place, my grandmother Arcelia Araujo is very ill, mentally sick but the entire staff helped her get through her long days. After being discharged my grandma has been better physically and mentally. If it weren’t for sunset manor my grandma wouldn’t be the same. Thank you for everything you do everyday! This is not easy what these people do

I moved my brother Sunset manor in El Monte CA. From my facility I was not pleased with. I was told great things about their subacute unit. I was assured that he would get top-notch service and that they had a grade history of rehabbing patients and had a knowledgeable and professional staff. I was also told that they had top rated doctors. Nothing of what I was told could have been farther from the truth. I have a severe question as to how their top staff (including their RNs & DRs etc) gained any type of professional designation. Their professional ability to treat patients with medical issues seem out of their reach. I believe it is very likely did they could easily further injure and even kill subacute patience by their lack of knowledge supervision and follow through. I have giving them a one rating when it should've been -10

Thank you Sunset Manor for the great care given to my dad. Blanca and the nursing staff were caring and considerate. I could call and Blanca answered all my questions and encouraged open communication. The nursing staff was also very kind and anytime my Dad was called they made sure the call was given to him. At time of discharge Blanca helped with additional sources of continued care. Blanca truly helped me navigate a stressful situation.

Verify any information given to you by the staff. We have asked questions and been lied to in response. When we pointed out that what they told us was incorrect and untrue, staff members (including the doctors seeing the patients) get defensive and yell that they don’t have to answer questions. Patient Belongings also frequently go missing from closets. I recommend not consenting to anything recommending by the facility until you have time to think it over and make sure it’s in the best interests of your family member. If you look at their Yelp page, you’ll see that fake positive reviews are only written by people (likely the administrators covering up their transgressions) who’ve created fake accounts with 1-2 reviews. It says a lot about the facility that instead of offering better care & service, staff resort to lies and fake reviews to cover up issues that should be addressed. To get the real idea of what this place is like, talk to the CNAs, ask how long they’ve worked there. High turnover is real. Observe how often they change the patients, observe the way they speak to and about the patients. Don’t feel pressured to agree to anything if staff hasn’t taken the time to explain the process to you. Always approach an ombudsman if you need help with dispute resolution.
