Sumter Health and rehab center is my away from home. Everyone was so wonderful to me. Courtney and Nicki have some amazing activities for the residents. Bingo, tie dye shirts, bird feeders, Easter hats, even for the guys. Karaoke was a blast. Gotta question, Vera is the lady to talk to. My nurses and CNAs gave me the best care medical and physical. The housekeepers, Kat and Carolyn to name just two, keep the place so nice. I made so many wonderful friends that will forever be a part of my family. I just came for a wound care and rehab and they healed my heart. Thank you to my family in York, Alabama.

I’ve worked at Sumter H&R for total 5 years.. and just about 2 years ago ever since a cna Idell James started “running things” like doing cna schedules, daily cna assignment sheets, and doing the hiring process ,orientations, and getting the cnas fired over petty things.. she gets mad when u called off work, She’ll run to the DON Jackie Thomas office and tell all kinds of made up stories on you.. she wants you to work whatever days she give you, don’t want you to ask for a change or anything, because she felt as she was in charge.. I advise no one come here unless u ready to get harassed and bullied by the Staff development, DON, the Station 2 unit manager and the “head cna” of course.. Just recently they have been terminating and suspending loyal cnas that’s been with the company for years.. why corporate isn’t investigating or questioning the reason why this place firing weekly.. Halls full of NAs that’s not certified. Residents getting poor care because management done fired everyone or ran them off from picking and bully daily. Night shift get off in the mornings and can’t go home and sleep in peace , Jackie the DON, Idell the “head cna” and Rolisha staff development or Shonda the station 2 unit manager calling you on speaker phone about nonsense. Asking you about your personal social media posts etc n made up assumptions they trying to put on you .. it’s out of hand up there. Covid cases all through the building.. unprofessional, rude, and very messy management here.. I’m glad I left, poor management is bringing this place on down.. I feel so sorry for the residents that lost loyal cnas that been takin care of them for years that actually cared and loved them like family, getting fired and pulled away from them over messy nonsense. Corporate, regional manager, state. Y’all need to do something and the administrator acts just lost and just goes by whatever they tell him. Sad

After 13 years, I have returned to work at Sumter Health and Rehab. There has been a lot of positive changes. What has captivated me most is the longevity of staff in all departments. Upon returning, I have witnessed the love, care, and concern the staff has for the residents, families, and each other. Sumter has a great team of workers with an excellent therapy department. I would definitely use the facility to place one of my loved ones as well as refer other families. I am happy to be part of such an amazing team.

I had worked here under Northport from 2000-2017 and retired for 5 years returning in December, 2021 back almost 2 years now. I had worked here prior to Northport's ownership for 6 years. Since my return I have seen many employees return to work here. Very long term employees in which the Residents know them very well and Employees know the Residents which is a Win Win Situation. Very strong Nursing Management Team in place and very caring individuals. Anyone looking for Long-Term care for a loved one this is the place to be! Sincerely!!!
