Summa Health Therapy at Kohl Family YMCA at University Park

I’ve been seeing Kyle and Abby for hand therapy- both have been doing a great job and they always have new options to try. I feel that both have done more for me than anything other hand therapists at other facilities have been able to accomplish and in a relatively short amount of time. I actually feel like I might be progressing at this point!

First appointment I was met with a student. I was not informed of this prior even though I had called and asked what to expect. They also never asked if I was comfortable with a student so it was put on me to speak up on my discomfort. I have a history of medical trauma and I am not interested in being a learning opportunity. My discomfort with that interaction was not addressed and I feel as if it would have been ignored if I had not had the courage to speak up.

The place was very clean. However, the staff is extremely rude! I was a new patient to them today. I was never told where to park, or that they were upstairs and around two hallways from the front door. Because of this, I was 10 minutes late. The receptionist threw that in my face 3x! Along with 2 other therapists coming out to gripe that I was late!! I explained my situation of being new to their establishment. But, they didn't care. Apparently, their time is more precious than mine! Needless to say, I am NOT returning there for more of the same rudeness and "treatment"! After all, if that's how you're treated on day one, it's not going to get any better!!

I accompanied my mother here for her first hydro therapy session. Deana was great! My mother suffers from Facetious (sp?) Disorder, formally known as Munchasusen syndrome. Deana handled it well and I hope that Sylvia will have more sessions here.

It’s really messed up there the receptionist is super rude like the other comment said, they don’t have any treatment plans or anything and just try to be mean and get you to leave there clinic, there was a physical therapist that called one of the clients a racist, and tried to joke and breath heavy to cause another client to have a heart attack/arythmatic, I talked to the office manager in order to gain understandment of a healing plan and she was freaked out and stressed out and bedside me and talked I circles about to in front of even went in the back room and was making fun of me, like to confuse me…I don’t really even know it’s like one the worst experiences in the hospital.

Staff is excellent
