I was given the run around for months in terms of my treatment and pain management. I was routinely made to violate my own HIPPA rights when trying to speak to or make an make an appointment with Dr. Cardenas to attempt to get a clear answer in terms of my treatment. I made my expectations clear from the beginning in March, and that if they could not meet them, that's fine but please let me know now so I can seek a different provider. Instead they kept scheduling visits and promising I would get an explanation at the following visit. Flash forward to now, EIGHT MONTHS later, numerous phone calls attempting to get some clarity, I'm finally being told "no we can't help you" after having forced the issue, following yet another appointment with someone who was not Dr Cardenas. They all seem nice enough and like they do want to help, but the terrible disorganization, lack of communication between their own staff and providers, and lack of transparency has left me hanging in the same place I was eight months ago. I almost ended up sobbing after being told the truth. Why did it take at least three more appointments, all 2-4 weeks apart, to finally tell me they had decided against the original treatment plan written out by Dr. Cardenas? And why was I unable to ever, including in my last conversation, actually able speak to Dr. Cardenas about this change? They said I couldn't even get a phone call back from her to explain. This is not good patient care. I'm understanding in an epidemic but that goes both ways. Now I have to begin this whole process over again, when they knew by June at a minimum they weren't going to be able to suit my medical needs. I see now that all the positive reviews are from over 2 years ago, wish I paid more attention to that.

I have been to a few different pain management offices and Start New Medical is WONDERFUL and by far the best I've been too! I highly recommend Start New Medical! My first impression - just calling to make my first appointment was so easy! All the staff are extremely polite, nice, caring and compassionate! I've waited weeks even months to get approvals for Radiology procedures in the past and the receptionist asked me if I had a few minutes to wait and got me 2 MRI approvals within 5 minutes! She got an approval that I've been denied for 2 times! The doctor and nurse that I see are both truly a blessing! The doctor examined me thoroughly - so much more than any other doctor I've seen! She wants to get to the root of the problems I have...neck, back and knees. I have many herniated and bulging discs, pinched nerves, degenerative disc disease and scoliosis through my entire spine, fibromyalgia, cartilage issues in my knees and I'm only 32. She doesn't want to just mask the problems but actually help me through my daily and constant pain and not with just pain medication. I've had trigger point Injections before and my past doctor would just say bend over and would just stab me multiple and random places. She takes her time, touches the area and asks what area hurts and feels for any abnormalities and marks the spots and uses the computer with guidance. They also use freezing spray so the needles don't hurt as bad! I cannot stress enough about how truly compassionate the entire staff are and how much they truly care! I wish I could give them more than 5 ⭐'s! The doctor/np is SO easy to talk to, she listens to everything, does not rush me at all, truly gets to know you and remembers even the smallest detail that is mentioned months later! The office is an all-in-one place. They have physical therapy there as well. I can keep going about how amazing this office and staff are so I'm just going to stop now 😊. Thank you Start New Medical for making my life better!

I love Joanne and all the staff, I was unsure at first. Now when I go it feels like family, they only have your best interest in mind. Completely supportive, I'm so happy to be a patient at StartNew Medical .

I had such a positive experience with Dr Cardenas / Joel and her associates . I felt seen and listened to and we made a succinct plan for my recovery It has made my path so much more manageable. I can’t wait to return and get the attention that this office provides!

This has been the best place that I have been to take care of my back pain. They are thorough, compassionate, smart and take care of their patients quickly. Excellent P.T. excellent Doctor's and NP's. 5 stars!

Very friendly and helpful staff. The front desk, medical assistants and Doctor were very genuine and a pleasure to deal with. They looked out for my best interest and were very accommodating with my needs. Highly recommended!!

While the PA you're assigned is usually very good, fact is Dr. Cardenas is never in the country, the front office is absurdly unorganized. They will double bill you, the violate HIPPA on a regular basis, the office manager (So they claim) Christine is in-competent. This facility is the place to go for those with drug seeking behavior because they make their money solely on handing out narcotics nothing more.

Very friendly staff. On many occasions when I have been ill due to other serious health issues they have been very accommodating. Joanne Arbusto, NP, is excellent with the shots and extremely compassionate.
