This place has recently made some changes for the better. This skilled nursing facility is very small and boutique style place. It is very family oriented and you see many people visiting their loved ones. It does not smell like the other skilled nursing homes. The food is amazing. I definitely recommend you going and checking it out for yourself. My grandfather was here for a short period. He was able to get some services from therapy and get strong enough to go back come. Highly recommend.

This rehab place is smaller than most. All the rooms are on one level, on one hallway, so it's hard to get lost even when you are a first-time visitor. It has a family-like atmosphere. The staff are professional, super caring, and they know what they are doing. There's an outdoor patio space that's each to access so residents and visiting family members can get fresh air and sunshine. It's just 2 blocks from Balboa Park so it's easy to take residents there on a short walk. There are even sidewalks with wheelchair friendly ramps along the way.

I have never met a more passionate, understanding and giving staff. Such a loving and caring skilled nursing facility. Last year my uncle came in with a serious spine infection confined to bed, unable to walk or even to sit up in bed. A few days later he was able to sit up in bed and a few days after that he was walking down the hall with the aid of a walker. His improvement is due to St. Paul's outstanding staff of doctors, skilled nurses, nurse's aids, physical and occupational therapists and other staff. The doctors monitored his spine infection closely and made helpful recommendations for his care. The nursing staff is skilled, friendly and responsive. I had one concern about his nursing care, but that concern was promptly addressed. The physical therapists worked hard with him to improve his mobility with a program tailor-made for him. Truly, I can't say enough about this skilled nursing facility and rehabilitation center. The amount of care and concern given is remarkable. it is clean, bright and cheerful and it offers excellent care.

I was there for re-hab. They have a good program, but a postage stamp of a room! Not much equipment to use. Food is good, but not much of it. If they count 60 people for soup, that's all there is, 60. At Thanksgiving, we were given two nice slice's of turkey, one piece of sweet potato, no dressing, no cranberry's. Small salad. And the toper was the pie, a slice 1in., That's it. And since the kitchen is at another facility, no help from the kitchen. But the staff are really good people.

I had to file an official complaint against St. Paul for their incredibly poor treatment of my mother, who broke bones in her leg while being mishandled by one of St. Paul's rough "caregivers," a term which doesn't really apply to much of St. Paul's staff. St. Paul's failed to even address my mother's broken leg and I only discovered the problem myself when I found her on her bed in pain, crying out for help. After she underwent surgery at the hospital to repair her broken leg bones, I moved her to The Cove in La Jolla, which was far superior to St. Paul's. St. Paul's an awful place.
