I had an epidural injection here by Dr. Downey. This is the most organized, professional doctors’ office I have ever seen. Everyone is so happy, professional and helpful! There is no waiting. It ran so smoothly that I compared it to Chick-fil-A. So when I left I bought Chick-fil-A for several of the nurses who impressed me. I believe their names were Beth and Anna. Update: Complications after epidural injection. I am having weakness in my right leg, causing my knee to buckle. I called Dr. Wade’s office and was told that was caused from the lidocaine used during the injection. I am walking with a cane now to prevent falling.

Dr. Downey and his staff are amazing. They are compassionate and caring. We have built relationships with all of them over the years and I know I am more blessed when I leave there. You can see how evident his faith is in Christ, whether you are a believer or not. He does love the KJV so I think I may call him: Doctoreth Downeyeth at the Spineth Groupeth of Alabama-eth. All good things. Christi is also so amazing and has helped me so much. Dr. Downey-eth careth so much about his patients. He follows up and is concerned. Very genuine. Especially for people like me who have a lot of pain and don't want to go to a pain management clinic. No offense to those that have to go there. Blessings and I pray the Lord continues to bless himeth and all of his staffeth.

From scheduling your appointment to the actual procedure, you could not beat a more professional group of people. Dr. Cotter is so attentive to detail when discussing your problems. Not only does he listen carefully to you but he also asks questions in order to help solve your problems. I also want to give a shout out to my “team” today which was Katie my CRNA, X-Ray tech Chad, Nurses Anna,Beth, and Ashley as well as Susan the transporter. It takes a good group of dedicated employees to make a successful company.

When a place is special you know it right away and SpineGroup Alabama is a very special place. From the moment you walk into the lobby you know you’re in good hands. From the receptionist to the nursing staff to the X-ray techs to the patient transfer staff you’re treated with kind consideration. And when you’re with Dr. Downey you know why his practice is so amazing - because he is!

Once again, Dr Downey and his staff went above and beyond during my recent visit. They had been grounded due to the Governor/ Alabama Dept of health due to the Covid. They are back up and running, doing what they do best: treating patients as human beings with compassion and tender hearts. I’ve said it before and I will say it again, Dr Downey is hands down the most compassionate, caring, thorough doctor I’ve ever known. His character of being a man in his practice as well as his personal life is one to emulate. I thank Jesus for this man and his compassion and pray that he never loses it. Now, if you need help with your back, neck, whatever; make an appointment. If Dr. Downey can not help you, he will put you in front of someone who can. His staff!!! They are awesome! So very kind. So very helpful. I won’t mention them all by name, but I haven’t met one individual that hasn’t shown that same caring attitude as Dr Downey demonstrates. Thank you Spine Group Alabama. My family and I love you. Don’t lose that compassion and attention to detail that you hold.

I am so overjoyed at the medical care I’ve received from Dr. Cotter and his staff I cannot believe the care!! Today was my 2nd appointment and it was an epidural. I’ve had terrible experiences with this procedure in the past but Dr. Cotter and his staff were incredible! I was treated with such respect, kindness, and care from every single staff “angel” from check in to helping me into the car! I have not had such amazing care in so long from any medical practice it has been a privilege to be treated by such a phenomenal group! I have many health problems and have suffered with spine problems for years and for the first time I have found a Spine Specialist in Dr. Cotter, the anesthesiologist, nurses, everyone who is going to be there with me! I feel the level of individual care I’m receiving is a true support team - with me through the entire healing and recovery process! I will always be a patient of Dr. Cotter and Spine Group Alabama! I recommend Dr. Cotter and his staff to anyone with Spine problems - there is no better in Birmingham area - I’ve been looking for over 35 years!!!

Dr. Downey and his entire staff are genuinely caring and kind. He is the most competent spine doctor in Alabama! He is completely focused on helping people improve heath and relieve pain. He is the best! Chad is also wonderful and immediately puts you at ease during the treatment.

Today I definitely wasn't disappointed with my choice of using The SpineGroup Alabama in Homewood. For myself I have a real fear of needles and truthfully Dr's n staff. But honestly I would use NO one eles due to the compassion and the amazing staff to relax me with just simply telling me YOU GOT THIS. It's truly everything for a patient like me. They greet you with the best bedside I've ever had. From the anesthesiologists explained each step to the nurses all the way to the Dr. Dr A Cotter is absolutely one of the best bedside manner I've ever seen. The nurses who work beside him are just as compassionate and caring as he is. I would definitely recommend using SpineGroup Alabama especially if your like me and procedures make you nervous. They have a way of making me smile coming in and definitely coming out. Thank you so much for the extra care you all have given me not only today but every single time I've been there. You guys truly don't know that your professional care as well as your bedside manner has kept me coming back....And I would definitely recommend using Dr A COTTER HE'S DEFINITELY WHO I WOULD RECOMMEND USING.
