Speech & Myo Therapy of Des Moines

Amanda does a fantastic job working with my daughter. She has made great progress in the year she's been going to speech. Amanda has helped her to develop so much more body awareness between tongue and other facial muscles. She has learned to slow down her speech and is able to self-correct. These kinds of connections and the warm relationship formed have truly helped my daughter to speak so much more clearly. We are so appreciative of all her hard work.

We have been loving our experience with Miss Amanda!! Previously my daughter had been seen by the WDM AEA on a monthly basis and her speech therapist was lovely but when she graduated her I realized my standards for my daughter's speech are higher than the AEA's standards so we sought out Speech & Myo Therapy of Des Moines for an evaluation. The evaluation was so thorough and Amanda diagnosed my daughter with an anterior lisp that requires at least weekly practice to retrain her muscles and movement patterns. She has made amazing progress and we are loving the clear speech we are hearing! We are very thankful we found her and will refer anyone we know that needs speech.

I took my son here for over a year and had a great experience and lots of progress was made Then I noticed I had been charged $1250 on my card over the span of a few weeks. There had been a billing “issue” or “mistake” with insurance and no one informed me; they just charged my card. I had to cancel my son’s appointments while they assured me they would get it all figured out. I followed up for weeks and weeks and I kept getting blown off; I kept being told that they would figure it out asap and let me know; but then she just stopped contacting me entirely. They left my son high and dry with no notice even though he was going through major issues; they never refunded any of the money they overcharged me and never provided any resolution or explanation. I can’t even begin to explain how disappointed I am with this business and how they treated us after this happened. They clearly didn’t care about how this would affect my son who had been going there consistently for over a year; He ended up reverting back to behaviors from before he started there. The therapist, Holly, who worked with my son was so wonderful and I just expected more from her than this. I’ve also kept getting weekly appointment reminders for appointments we don’t have… I hope this business makes this all right…

Our son has been seeing Katie for two and a half years now - He has made such a HUGE improvement and I truly have Katie to thank for that. We will continue to use Katie until he absolutely no longer needs the services. He has built such a great relationship with her. She goes above and beyond for every client. Five stars doesn’t do Katie justice, I would recommend her to anyone and EVERYONE. She’s also put this mama’s anxious nerves at ease. ☺️

Katie was very patient and professional. Our daughter usually cry at all doctor appointment. But Katie was able to work with her and by the second appointment, daughter was comfortable with her. Her eating has improved so much after seeing Katie and doing all the exercises. Katie went above and beyond to work with our daycare provider to make sure she is safe and have planned in place.

We've been seeing Katie for about a year now and are so thankful we found her! My daughter had approx 10 solid words when she was 2.5 and now at age 3.5 she can hold a conversation with us. Katie is so great with my girls. They love playing with her and its pretty cool to see how receptive they are and repeat Katie's instructions. We have a ways to go still but know we are on the right path here.

We worked with Katie and cannot recommend her enough! After seeking nursing help with a LC, we reached out for additional support. Katie was very thorough in her diagnosis always explained the "why" behind things, and the exercises/stretches provided much needed relief. In addition, she gave us recommendations on starting solids which was very comforting as a first time mom. She's very knowledgeable and passionate about her work - I only wish we would've reached out sooner!

We love coming here! Katie and Amanda have each worked with one of my kids and they have made huge progress with them. The kids love coming each week because they make therapy fun and are so kind to the kids. They are easy to work with, and the experience overall has been fantastic. Highly recommend!
