It is very hard to let go of your hero. My dad got sick about one month before he finally succumbed to his illness. We spent time in Colorado Springs at a hospital I won't mention. The alarms when off hourly and I was constantly running for help throughout the night to get someone to deal with the noise. I was finally able to get him back to the veteran's home where he was received with love and kindness. I spent the last three weeks at his bedside and observed the excellent care he received. The staff, from the CEO to the cleaning crew, treated him with dignity and respect. When he was down, he was lifted up. Pain meds were administered in a timely fashion. Not only did they take care of my Dad but they took care of his grieving daughter. I still cry, it still hurts but I am so comforted in knowing that Dad finished well and the VA home played a part in making that happen

I would like to give my family's heartfelt appreciation for the care, understanding, love and patience the staff at the Spanish Peaks Veterans Community Living Center and the Sangre de Cristo Community Care had in the caring of our father this past year. The staff appreciates the residents' service to their country. They make them feel special and not forgotten. Our Dad enjoyed talking to “His Girls” and missed them on their days off. From the first day of admission to his last day there, he was treated with respect and love. Thank you again for the care and love you showed our father.

This is great place for your loved one. They truly care about the residents and they cook amazing food for them, it's almost like a home away from home!!

Stuck my Uncle in a room filled with storage. Staff was rude and condescending when we visited. Blessed though, that my sister, who has worked as a CNA, and my brother were able to advocate for him.

Great facility. Clean and well kept. Very respectful towards our Veterans. I had a friend in the Veterans side who received great care. The family was very pleased.

Been part of this family for over 30 years. It is a true honor to serve so many that sacrificed so much for this the greatest country on the earth.
