Where to start...Susan, Jim, and their phenomenal staff have taken a journey with me. Susan's skill and expertise is owed to her outstanding thirst for knowledge and dedication to getting her patients the care they deserve and sorely need. When all other "Dr.s" wanted to give half-thought up excuses and sordid theories without even bothering to touch my wrist, Susan asked for precise descriptions. The more examples I gave and time spent problem solving led her to a conclusion for my treatment that was proved to be completely accurate. Unfortunately worker's comp in Arizona did not take the thorough suggestions and referrals Susan gave me. (6 doctors and a supposed specialist just wanted me to play with silly putty to help my wrist recovery. Others told me maybe it would hurt forever.) Fortunately, I have been able to get in with a doctor that didn't just want me to say I felt fine, or I would get over the problem, in my home state of Wyoming. I had demanded the procedure done that Susan suggested right off the bat, a contrast MRI, that previous doctors felt was unnecessary. Due to the results showing a cyst in my wrist, it was followed by a localized steroid shot (which Susan had also recommended based on her careful and considered assessment of my injury to my wrist). I have been able to call and speak with her giving my thanks for the work she had done. Her care and analysis had been spot on and I would have been fixed months before if only the doctor's I saw in Arizona cared to listen. Susan fought for me and continued to suggest the treatments, week after week. Her massage and therapy caused me to gain strength back and ease inflation and pain. Ever my advocate until I had to move to another state and inevitably change doctors. Please to anyone who is getting shunted around. I have never felt more cared for and seen and heard. Susan, Jim, and the staff at this facility were the only family I had down in Phoenix. They worked with me through times of COVID-19 and they still support me to this day now that I live in another state. My recovery back to the use of my wrist will forever be marked by their intelligent and thoughtful use of decades of hand therapy experience.

My first experience with the front staff was with Bobbi. She is very rude and when it came to explaining my insurance, she insisted that she knew more about it than I did. I never wanted to deal with her from then on because she was just very arrogant. She should not be at the front desk where she is the first person you are greeted by, & that's if she takes the time to acknowledge you at the window! Then initially dealing with Susan she seemed very friendly as she did my first aquatic session and 30 mins into the session she had another therapist finish out the session. I have Lupus and Adrenal insufficiency on top of a number of health issues and Susan was aware of this. So severe fatigue is a major side affects from Lupus & Adrenal insufficiency. I had to cancel due to having flares. I had to also cancel 2 times when I had my menstrual cycle. I would only go twice a week due to the distance. So one day I called and spoke to Bobbi and asked her to have Susan call me to no avail. I wanted to discuss my situation and see if we could come up with a plan that would work best for my needs, because aquatic was really helping me and I didn't want to discontinue. So by the time Susan returned my call she stated that she was discharging me from the clinic and sending a letter to my PCP, which she never did to discuss when I could come back to their facility when I was ready to fully commit. Well when I spoke to Susan that day to explain about the days I had missed, she assumed it was just because I wasn't feeling well. I then informed her that when I am having and Adrenal flare I can't drive let alone stand up. Because it affects my Blood pressure and Blood Sugars to the point of me passing out. I was doing this not only for the safety of myself but for the staff and other clients in the water. Susan also then explained that I didn't need to miss days just for being on my menstrual cycle. That other woman continue to do their aquatic therapy and I told her I don't use tampon products and she stated, the other female clients don't either and said they get in the water without anything which is a violation of blood borne pathogens and should be stated and posted in bold print before any client gets into the waters that way they have a choice to make whether they want to enter the waters that have other humans ( bodily fluids = blood ) in the water. Even if Susan states that the machine she has is filtering it out. There is no machine made to filter out microscopic particles of that nature. This is why, there are OSHA guidelines that need to be met! So for Susan to even think I would want to return to a place that allows this, the answer is No! Nor would I ever recommend any of my friends or loved ones. This place needs to be evaluated for the dingy bathroom shower and floor mat that one has to step on barefoot if you don't have swim shoes. Otherwise you will get fungus from walking barefoot. They never have hand soap to wash ones hands in the bathroom. I can go on with the many issues they have. It was God sent looking out for me because if I would've know from the beginning what Susan had shared with me, I would have never stepped one foot into the water. The only two people who took their jobs serious were my aquatic therapist ( not susan ) and Brain who did my intake.

I was referred to Southwest Therapy Specialist by the VA and this place is by far one of the best Therapy Facility I’ve ever been to. All the employees here are very professional and knowledgeable about their work. Every time I leave this Facility, my body feels good and relaxed and most especially helped me sleep better at night. My body feel so good that I’m able to go home and still have the energy to do light duty chores at home. The staff make you feel comfortable working with them because you not only see their professionalism but also get a sense that they truly care about what they are doing and care about you as a patient. I remember I showed up for an appointment one day and my blood pressure was out of whack and they told me to lay on the training bed and elevated my leg while continuously monitoring my blood pressure until it came down to the point where they felt It would be safe for me to drive. I just want to take this opportunity to Thank Susan and Her staff at Southwest Therapy for all their help. Their an amazing team and I would highly recommend this place to anyone who suffers from chronic pain.

Friendly staff who is very knowledgeable! Susan is a great OT and highly recommend you take a look at going to this location for physical therapy. I’ve had physical therapy in larger businesses when I was younger and never felt like I got personal attention by the therapists because they had so many patients to tend to. So this clinic is perfectly sized where you get enough attention, but also enough time on your own so you don’t feel like someone is staring you down the whole time you work out!

Referred a few years back by my physician, I could not safely participate in life, let alone therapy. My body needed to stay mobile & prepare for intensive surgery. I began aqua therapy with Susan. Not only is it an alternative to traditional, land therapy, the benefits are astounding. Since then, my physician continues to refer me to STS, as needed. The warmth of the pool makes it easier to mobilize my stiff, aching joints. The therapy makes me stronger due to the resistance of the water. The knowledge, experience and facility are top notch. Susan and her staff are definitely part of my health care team. Join the "pit posse" and find the way to better your health.💙

This place is amazing! Susan is patient, kind, and caring. They treat every patient as a person. The staff is even kind. Brian engages you in conversation and listens. The front desk memorizes your name after 1 visit! I have been to MANY doctors, specialists, physical therapists and this one is by far better than any I have been to. I am enjoying days with less pain because of the care they give. I cannot recommend a better place!

A year and a half ago, I had major spinal cord surgery to remove a tumor growing on my spinal cord. I was doing all the right things and going to physical therapy. It was not helping. I was introduced to southwest therapy specialist a few months ago. The aquatic therapy combined with Jim’s experience with physical therapy has help my body heal. Jim and Susan listen to me and create a plan for strengthening. Each week, we recap and adjust the plan as needed. I highly recommend southwest therapy specialist.

Jim and Christine are great; sad they have to work with an owner that plays games and acts as if she is "always there for her patients"...something is wrong when your staff doesn't stay maybe it starts@ the head....water pt. 1day a week...Although offered the owner never gets in and they double and triple book people the same time...forget getting one on one..unless your private pay and wealthy than u have all the attention in the world...
