I never post reviews, however, this really bothered me. I drove my mom for an appointment to see Dr. Jamie Hernandez. My mom has seen multiple doctors and has always come out with a positive attitude no matter the circumstance. After her visit with Hernandez, she came out to the car looking defeated and hopeless. I asked her about it and was told that Hernandez was very rude, disrespectful and did little to nothing in providing physical and emotional support. I'm not sure if she caught the doctor on a bad day, however, it is absolutely unacceptable to ever treat a patient with disrespect and with a condescending undertone. He and the company owes her an apology for the way she was treated. The lack of doctoral empathy is atrocious and no patient deserves this despite whatever may be going on. I hope nobody else has to experience this with Dr. Hernandez as it absolutely tore my heart to see her come out with a defeated mindset. Patients deserve better, SCOI needs to do better.

My son had his second appointment with Shadi and his assistant Kinsey today, Shadi and Kinsey are super nice, professional and knowledgeable. Shadi and his assistant work well together on coordinating my son’s exercise during his visit. Super happy with our visit, and highly recommend this duo .

I feel very fortunate to have Dr. Hernandez before my hip replacement. I am a patient with a higher BMI and found it difficult to find a surgeon to perform the procedure. After the six week mark, I am walking with and without my cane!

I brought my daughter to SCOI because her pediatrician referred her after determining she has scoliosis. Unfortunately, our local SCOI had only one provider who saw pediatrics and that doctor was retiring. The gentleman who booked our appointment said he could ask if another provider could see my daughter locally but he would need to check if that was possible due to her age. He said that doctor would not have openings until January. I said well I suppose there isn’t another option and he said well we have an office in Valencia and she can be seen there and referred to scoliosis as an “emergency.” So I booked in Valencia and we drove 1.5 hours. We filled out intake forms which asked about pain. I checked the box that my daughter was having pain as she frequently complains of discomfort in her back. We were put into an exam room and a female walked in and said she was Dr. McKeevers “assistant” and immediately said “how long has she been having back pain because scoliosis does not cause pain?” First of all we aren’t here for pain management and secondly what qualifications do you have to make that determination? She was rude and unprofessional. The provider enters the room and again immediately wants to inform me that scoliosis will not cause pain. Asked who the mother or “mothers” were referring to myself and my daughters AUNT and rudely directed me to stand in another area of the exam room saying the room gets small. Does an exam on my daughter and her demeanor is just rude she showed an extreme lack of bedside manner from start to finish. I could tell my daughter felt uncomfortable especially answering questions about her pain/discomfort (obviously after their repeated remarks!) My daughter was having difficulty following her prompts at times during the physical assessment and she was rude when she had to repeat them. My daughter felt stupid and embarrassed by her. She tells me she is going to do X-rays to evaluate my daughter for scoliosis. I asked if these x-rays are different than the ones my daughter just had and that were given to the office on a CD. She said she didn’t know that we had already done X-rays or turned in this CD. I got the impression that nobody did any due diligence before walking into that room. We were there because we were referred for scoliosis, not to complain of pain and my daughter already had a scoliosis x-ray. She said she still needed additional x-rays and that was fine. It was the fact that she seemed totally unaware of why my daughter was even there. I told her we are from out of town and we were referred here we didn’t come for pain and she said she “knew we were from out of town.” It really felt as though us being there was an inconvenience to the staff. She recommended my daughter be seen every 6 months to monitor her spinal curvature and gave her a PT order. Needless to say I will be finding another healthcare facility that has staff who have some form of bedside manner for follow up care. I can’t even adequately express the overall feeling of that visit. I hope these people were having an off day and don’t always treat patients in this manner, but I won’t chance having another terrible visit.

I had to have a spinal disk replacement surgery. Some earlier providers took months to diagnose, but Dr Blecher at SCOI suggested I consult with Dr Barcohana due to MRi results showing a completely slipped disk. Dr Barcohana worked with my neurologist and set up a surgical date. Surgery went great! After months of excruciating pain no matter what I did, I woke up after surgery with no pain at all. I went home the next day and I haven't had any pain at all since. Multiple follow ups just kept coming back with better and better news. Dr Barcohana's surgicl team were great, and his assistant surgeon, Dr Kashimoto, has also been amazing to deal with. I would highly recommend everyone on this team again and again!

Dr Babak Barcohana is an excellent Ortheopedic Surgeon. He diagnosed my lower back problem and he came up with a treatment plan. He was able to answer all my question's I had, to understand how to resolve my back pain. I would definitely recommend him to my family and friends who have any back problems. His team are also readily available to answer any questions in regards insurance and treatment.

Dr. Hernandez was very personable and down to earth and very professional. He explained in simple terms the procedure he was proposing to do. Mr Pham was also very personable and explained the process to me in simple terms. I feel very comfortable to be in their care.
