I just had a terrible experience at what used to be an exceptional physical therapy provider. During the 40 years I've lived and worked in Sonoma Valley (including 22 years as a 3rd grade teacher at El Verano School), I've had excellent pre and post surgery back, neck, shoulder, and knee rehabilitation therapy at this location. Unfortunately, I had the opposite type of experience today. As I tried to make an appointment, the receptionist asked to verify my residence. I explained that my primary residence was now in Michigan (where my daughter lives)... and that I spend 2 months visiting Sonoma every 2 months (for a total of 6 months each year). The receptionist then interrupted my explanation asking, "So you're not local?," to which I replied that this shouldn't matter since original Medicare doesn't tie where one is treated to one's primary residence location. At this, the receptionist cold-heartedly rebuffed me, saying she'd only make an appointment for me if I was a Sonoma resident. Since relationships and caring no longer appear to matter to this healthcare provider, I've come to the very sad conclusion that I can no longer recommend Sonoma Valley Hospital Hand And Physical Therapy to anyone I care about.
