I had to go to therapy here and met two wonderful men that helped me get off crutches and back to walking on my own.. I don't think I said thank you enough. The nice ladies at the window was very nice and polite. I would like to thank them again. I tore my ACL, I didn't feel like I was able to do it, but I felt courage when I went there. I'm walking on my own without surgery. All the staff there is professional and nice I always see them taking their time with patients, listening and carefully doing their exercises with them. Comfortable, always clean..

Very convenient that there is a pharmacy in the health center. After my appointment, I can walk right across the hall and get whatever I need. The service here is great. There are a lot of resources, such as the optic care and psychological services. Some of the primary care physicians lack bedside manners, however, and it makes me uncomfortable sometimes.

Everyone was super nice and accommodating, made me feel comfortable. I’m not usually good with giving blood, but they were quick, didn’t really hurt at all, didn’t pass out, and you get some free juice! :)

Positives: everyone I've encountered there has been respectful and sincere. It really seems like they want to help me. However, I have been plagued with numerous physical and mental health problems since I enrolled in 2015. Within the first month of my first semester, I visited them with significant pain in my left hip. Almost three months, I was instructed to come in once a week...the doctor, student observers, and a specialist would push and swivel my leg around until I was audibly weeping. They would also do x-rays every week. All this time they felt it was a ligament issue, even having me go to physical therapy every two weeks. Finally, they sent me to get an MRI...it was a fractured hip. I was on crutches for 10 months, which also caused damage to my sternum. The mental health services...NOT a fit for me. It felt that the program was preoccupied with pushing DBT, some sort of safe space group therapy session that met once a week (on top of meeting individually with a counselor on a weekly to biweekly basis as well). In the therapy, we were discouraged from talking about our specific issues...for fear of triggering other members. I apparently was too eager to participate and I was told by my counselor in a private session to speak up less, to not make the others feel pressured. It seemed like we spent less time talking about my dangerously (at the time) unstable mental health and more on filling out time sheetsamd what I thought of DBT. Also, they in a round about way threatened to discontinue my psychiatric services for one year..or other times it was the rest of that semester..or other times I would just lose my counselor, if I accumulated more than two absences in a row to any of these appointments. I encourage anyone to seek their services if you are feeling unwell but don't let them make you feel like there aren't other options or avenues.

I love my primary doctor and I love how easy it is to sign up for medical appointments. I feel as if I got really lucky with her, as she is the only person working there that isn't exceptionally rude or patronizing. I've had run ins with other doctors, nurses, receptionists, and pharmacists. I've been a patient here for three years and It wasn't until today that I decided to give a review. I'm a psychology student and I want to the psychology department on the second floor and was met by a receptionist who was anything but friendly. My girlfriend and I have an assignment for one of our psych courses that encourages us to attend a few counseling sessions and write about our experiences. We decided this would be a good push for us to finally attend couples counseling like we've been talking about for months. Based on my experience, I also planned on signing up for personal counseling. I told the receptionists this, and she responded "No, no, no, no, no. You need to go to the library for that." I asked her if there was a counseling center in the library, and she told me "No, you need to read a book." I argued with her for a few minutes and eventually she took down my name and number and said she'd talk to someone about it. I doubt she'll call, but if she does I don't think I'll go. I don't know what kind of counseling center represents itself with someone like that, but they need to rethink it. I know you shouldn't generalize an entire place on one bad expirience, but the first face you see when seeking help shouldn't be one that'll judge you. I can't imagine someone walking into that department looking for help with mental health and finding judgement. Everyone has a bad day, but you need to compose yourself in that setting.

Absolutely horrible. Appointment will be at 4 and your show up at 355 and they won't get you til at least ten minutes after your appointment. I asked not to be with an intern because I'm not the type to go to counseling and guess what. They put me with an intern. So unprofessional. Hhmmm I wonder why nobody goes to cdale.

Had a really great experience with the primary care doctors & with counseling services but not with psychiatry. I asked them for help getting me set up with a provider for after I graduated and they provided no help.

Sucks only for SIU students. We live in Carbondale and need a psychiatrist and Dr Chandra won't take my finances casecand Rural Health is booked no new patients right now. The receptionist was nice but didn't suggest where we could call either.
