Sierra Tucson was the first place where I felt safe and comfortable enough to share my story. The amazing staff, majestic grounds, and community of fellow peers, gave me the support I needed to take action and begin to do the work to change my life. Since leaving Sierra Tucson, I’ve had my fair share of struggles, but have continued to do the work and have somehow created a life worth living. I’ve returned to ST twice as an alumni, and have built lifelong relationships in these visits. Words can’t express the gratitude I have for have been given the opportunity to be a part of this community.

I was on the fence as to whether or not to come to a treatment program at all. I looked at several, it was almost providential that I ended up at Sierra Tucson. There was the trampoline effect, sometimes I was up sometimes I was down. The doctors and therapists really care and are very compassionate and knowledgeable on how to stabilize and help restore health and soundness of mind. I was really taken back that the CEO actually visits with you during meal times to make sure that you’re getting all that you need. I’ve never seen that in any health care model being an RN myself. Im very grateful for the experience and the help that I received there. Like anything you can find faults but if you’re looking for the good there is a lot of good in this place much gratitude for Sierra Tucson. They deserve all five stars and are a top rated facility!

I graduated after a 45 day program, they booked me a flight as I am a disabled Marine veteran who was sent down by the VA (Veteran Affairs). I was transported to the airport and while checking in Sierra Tucson canceled my flight and knowingly left me stranded in the summer desert heat with my service dog from about 1:30 PM till almost 8 PM. They tried to get me to return to the lockdown facility they operate but I would have been at their mercy without a phone or a way to leave. Due to knowing what Arcadia does to keep patients against their will, I had to get my own hotel room so my 12 year old service dog didn’t die from heat exhaustion or dehydration. Feel free to Google Acadia Scandal to read about 19 treatment facilities across the country where this has happened at Acadia owned facilities, or read about the scandal on their website or the New York Times article.. Please do your due diligence before going to Sierra Tucson or Acadia owned facilities. The windows are illegal locked shut also even after it was reported by ~20 veterans while I was a patient. They promised I could return to get medical care treatments the VA had sent me to get, only to be told later I can’t return due to my complaints while there. Photos of windows that don’t open due to being screwed closed by the facility, evidence that patients are illegally prevented to escape in case of fire or gas leak.

Sierra Tucson was a great experience for me. It is professionally run and the staff is excellent and caring. Lisa was my process group leader and is top notch! Since I left, I have been contacted each week by Sean, and he is good at making me feel as if someone cares about how I am doing after being there. I would give my highest recommendations to Sierra Tucson. They turned my life around!

For the toughest month of my life, Sierra Tucson helped me immensely. The people who helped change my life that I am truly grateful: Dr. Peterson, my primary therapist Marshall Turner III, RT Ian Hudick, Specialty Therapist Brenda Baker, Case Manager Adelina Altamirano, RN Julie, PT Anthony Henderson, LMT Laurel Labistre and the rest of the MT’s, Emily Coombs NMD, Holley Anderson (I believe she was another RT), the Equine Therapists, the Nurses Julie, Donna, Mary etc at Morning Star Lodge and all the Resident Techs. Those first 30 days were intense and very difficult especially because I had just lost my husband, however Sierra Tucson was just the right place and fit for me! Pickleball and painting of rocks were great therapy! I met some people I will never forget!

When I walked up to the doors at Sierra Tucson, I was a broken woman on the inside and in much pain. The experience at Sierra Tucson, with every therapist, doctor, nurse and the staff in the kitchen, made it possible for me to start my journey to become whole again. I still am experiencing life on life’s terms, but the work I completed at Sierra Tucson, allows me to lean into any situation that comes my way and be OK!!! My daughters love having me in their life and trust me. I walk with my head high and can look people in the eye. I have been given the gift of grace and integrity. After saying all of this, the absolutely best part of being at Sierra Tucson, were all the connections I made. I encountered the most amazing people. We all walked side by side with each other on our journey through the hard moments and the fun moments. I am so grateful for the day I realized that even when crayons are broken, you can still draw a beautiful picture!!!!

Hello Everyone, I want to share my amazing experience at Sierra Tucson. I was struggling with Major Depressive Disorder and decided to seek professional help. I was scared and vulnerable when I walked in but the supportive staff, from the receptionist to the kitchen staff to the therapists and doctors helped put me at ease. It’s hard work but we are worth it! By giving us support and structure we are able to start the healing journey. Most importantly you are surrounded by other clients who are struggling in life. You are not alone. You see there is hope. Not to mention you make lifelong friends. I’d like to thank my therapist Matt. My doctors , Dr Maclean , Dr Faust and Oscar , my nurse. Also to everyone else who impacted me. The aftercare program is called Connect 365 you are contacted by a team member often my team member is Beth Sanders. Beth truly cares about me . It’s nice to get the extra support when you leave Sierra Tucson. So thank you everyone who helped me on my journey in life! Susan Falter
