PLEASE READ this before considering sending any loved one to this rehab. I wouldn't send a dead dog to be in the care of certain members of this staff at Sherman Oaks Rehab who worked in the evening at the time of the incident. While some of the day staff was quite kind and caring, my parent had experiences so psychologically traumatizing and frightening with members of the night staff that to this day she is afraid to go to another rehab. She called us begging to leave. She had one member who reportedly would just come in and stare at. her. She felt her medical conditions which can become life threatening and result in a stroke if not stayed on top of were neglected and her access to medications was not handled in any kind of a timely manner. She felt so vulnerable and helpless followed her surgery and she had every right to expect the staff there would be kind, compassionate, and respectful. When loved ones -one who is a working professional in healthcare herself-came to pick up my parent they reported patients standing in the doorways in their gown begging for water and other assistance, one of whom reportedly had been waiting so long that she decided to bring her water herself. My parent has repeatedly said never in her life has she had such an experience, even with various hospital and rehab stays at her older age, and to this day, she is haunted by her terrible experience at Sherman Oaks Rehab. Similarly, I was as well by the cruel indifference I experienced by the staff when I was on the phone with them trying to sort out what was happening. They were extremely indifferent. Again, if you love your loved one, I would look at other rehabs before this one. I was appalled at the way in which she was treated. Never

BEWARE OF SHERMAN OAKS HEALTH AND REHAB! I suppose OK for healing bones and PT, BUT NOT a place for sick people. My husband was there for about two weeks+ and got progressively worse, including his delirium. The site doctor whose care he was supposed to be under never saw him, NOT ONCE, and refused to call me. When I complained, a new site doc was assigned; he visited once and did not examine my husband. My husband was losing control of swallowing and was never provided an appropriate diet, even after I requested it. I later discovered he had developed aspiration pneumonia WHICH WAS NEVER ADDRESSED. When I insisted that he be transferred to a hospital, the nurse said she would consult the doctor. Consult?? When I threatened to call 911, doctor authorized transport. When we arrived at ER, I was told that he was VERY sick and that he would have died had he stayed there. Here’s another kicker, Fortunately, we would not have stayed anyway, but Sherman Oaks Health and Rehab mislead Medicare about my husband’s ability to function and Medicare denied further stay!! He was delirious, could not walk, could not talk coherently, could not eat and died in the hospital 3 weeks later. BEWARE! P.S. Public areas ok, but the 2 patient rooms we occupied looked like something out of a flophouse.

Our 90 year old Mom has been at Sherman Oaks Health & Rehab for 9 years. The staff are so wonderful kind & compassionate. From the 1st Day to present Erma, Rachel, Juan, Tyrone, Belle & so many others have given our Mom the best care possible. Steve Haas is the amazing director here & he truly cares. It shows in how well this facility is run. The facility is immaculate & bright. We feel so fortunate to have our Mom here where everyone is professional & so caring.

I have never seen anything more disgusting, smelly, old and nasty. My mom was suposed to stay there for few days for rehab purposes, after an hour she called, begging me to pick her up. I don't wish anyone to end up in a place like this. I had PTSD from the experience.

My father is in this facility for already eight month under a very good care of these hard working people. There is no other way to describe them, but angels. Each and every one of them do their hard work with passion and love. I want to personally thank Oleg Ashkenazi (physical therapy), Olga Senchea (occupational therapist), Simone Davenport (lvn nurse), Clair (activities), Irma Rivera (CNA) and each and everyone there whose hard work makes such a difference in the lives of these elderly patients.

I felt I must write about , Sherman Oaks Health and Rehab. My best friend has been there for 2 1/2 years , the quality of his care is excellent. The nursing staff is wonderful especially, the C.N.A.'s who do the hard work, treat the patients with such kindness and love.He has a Dr, who comes into see him 3 times a week , and is excellent, for most nursing homes, this is unheard of. The place is emaculate and the residents are always well dressed and groomed. The last thing that I would like to say is they have wonderful activities for the residents, once a month they have a candle light dinner. With small tables, white linen , candles, the same as a good restaurant. So I leave my friend in the best of hands, with no worries.

My stepdad who went to this facility for physical therapy on August 11 got infected with covid because those idiots admitted another patient to same room probably without even testing him for covid and as a result he ended up at ICU, got intubated, was in coma, went through a lot of pain. Yesterday was his funeral. He wasn’t even old or ill. If you want them to kill your close ones you should definitely take them to this facility, otherwise you have been warned. To top things up they “lost” some of his belongings after he was transferred to hospital. I wish there were legal and serious consequences for those type of facilities for such a neglect that leave patient dead and family in misery, like capital punishment for anyone involved (seriously). I hope and wish that everyone responsible for his death will painfully suffer for their actions.
