The Shepard center is one of the top medical and rehabilitation centers in the country. Their standard of excellence is absolutely unmatched. Their team of medical and service professionals are highly skilled and purposeful in their industry. I’ve been a number of times to see various patients and I can say I’m absolutely amazed every time I get to be here. Located right off Peachtree Road, in the heart of Buckhead. Families travel from all over the country to receive the specialized level of care that only can be found at the Shepard clinic. The Mission here and the people have risen to a level of excellence that has set the tone for the entire industry. What an amazing blessing, this facility is to the city of Atlanta and those who are fortunate enough to be under their provision

Update: my faith has been a bit more restored with Shepherds Center ONLY due to the help I received from the director Jacque Jones!! She was able to accommodate me with my concerns of getting my husband home and the family training that needs to be done! She was very understanding of my situation and limitations. She also apologized for how my husbands case manager spoke to me and how he poorly handled the situation. Thank you very much for understanding and working with me to get my loved one home!! Word to the wise, do not send your loved ones here. They do not care for their actual safety and have NO sympathy for families that have extreme limitations!! If you do send your loved one here make sure their case manager IS NOT Casey Kaufman!! He likes to say one thing then says another!! All they care about is getting paid and not actually caring and helping!! Do better in accommodations for families that need it!

Great hospital doing state-of-the-art things with a variety of specialized conditions and disabilities. My wife visits the Pain Clinic monthly and they are very compassionate and friendly. If you are there for an extended period of time, family members can visit a family room with pool table, ping pong table, TV, and restrooms. If you need to work while a family member is being treated, it's a great location as well. Currently, there is construction going on - they are adding a new building. Very cool!

As Disabled Veteran, who’s permanently in a Mobility Wheelchair with 2 Service Dogs. I truly appreciate Matthew Abisamra for making me extremely comfortable For accepting my 2 Service Dogs Koko and JR. By him doing so I was able to get on the highway and drive without being nervous like I was taken accessible driving at the Atlanta VA Medical Center. Yesterday I left my appointment with Matthew Abisamra with great confidence & happiness. Positive words how I feel that I now will be able to drive again, but this time in a handicap assessable van. God bless May God bless Matthew Abisamra and the Shepherd Center richly. You are truly made my life a trillion 1,000,000,000,000% happier and easier. Again thanks so very much ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Just amazing! They know what to do to help your loved one! Within 24 hours they had my son OFF his ventilator. They did their evaluation. Changed the plan slightly because we did not need what we came for. When we came back the next day our son was Not on his vent. They had worked him to that point almost overnight. We were floored that they accepted us almost 4 years out. They looked at his record though. All of it. We sent so many permission forms out and they got everything. We talked the first day about the plan. Why we had come. Turned out that his care at home wasn't quite right. See, normal doctors know how to handle normal injuries - ones that do not involve the nervous system. That is what they do here. They go for it too. They had our son tired at the end of each day. They had me tired learning all the new ways we are now caring for him. He is so much stronger now. We heard all your recommendations. We have appointments where you recommended. We have come so far so quickly. If only we had been able to come see you sooner. Thank You so Much Shepherd Center!

I am deeply disappointed and frustrated with our experience at Shepard Center. As a parent, it is heartbreaking to witness the inconsistency and lack of empathy displayed by the staff. One of the most distressing aspects was when Dr. Vox and the case manager blatantly lied to our faces. Trust is crucial in healthcare, and their dishonesty shattered that trust completely. What added to our disappointment was the unprofessional dress of Dr. Vox and his PA. Seeing them in jeans and not adhering to a professional dress code was disconcerting. I also had the impression that they were more concerned about numbers than the well-being of their patients. Another frustrating aspect was the outdated state of the hospital. It is disheartening to know that Shepard Center, built in the 70s, has never been updated. The dark and depressing atmosphere throughout the hospital only added to the already challenging situation we were facing. Out of all the nurses we encountered during our time at Shepard Center, only three stood out for their genuine care and willingness to listen to our concerns. It is disheartening to think that the majority of the nursing staff did not prioritize effective communication and attentive care. Then you have the therapist. There were a few of them that should not be in their position. They seemed inpatient and frustrated while working with my son. As a parent, I expected Shepard Center to provide a supportive and compassionate environment for our family during such a difficult time. Unfortunately, our experience was far from that. It is my hope that by sharing our experience, the necessary improvements will be made to ensure that other families do not have to endure the same disappointments and frustrations we did. I do not recommend Shepard Center.

Unprofessional Behavior and HIPAA Violations I had an incredibly disappointing experience with Dr. Ford Vox during my mother’s stay at Shepherd Center. Not only did Ford Vox exhibit cruel and unprofessional bedside manner, but also demonstrated a blatant disregard for patient privacy by violating HIPAA regulations. Shepherd should be ashamed for having Ford Vox practice at this hospital. During my mother’s stay, Ford Vox was dismissive and condescending, showing a complete lack of empathy and respect for my concerns, my family, my emotions, my mother and her future. His communication was rushed, and he seemed disinterested in helping my mother’s recovery and providing adequate explanations. What was even more concerning, however, was the apparent disregard for patient confidentiality. WITHOUT my consent, Ford Vox discussed sensitive medical information in a PUBLIC AREA where other patients could overhear. He spoke this information in front of a family friend visiting without asking who she was, what her connection to my mother or if we consented to him speaking about my mother in front of her. He spoke this information in a public hallway where others could hear. This breach of privacy is not only unethical but also illegal under HIPAA regulations. What added insult to injury was the unprofessional dress of Dr. Vox and his PA. Seeing them in jeans and not adhering to a professional dress code was not only inappropriate but it was also disrespectful. As a child of a patient, I expect to be treated with dignity, respect, professionalism and especially in this tragic circumstance -kindness. Unfortunately, my experience with Ford Vox, his PA and the case manager fell far short of these expectations. I urge others to consider these factors before seeking treatment from this physician or hospital. Overall, I cannot in good conscience recommend Ford Vox or his PA based on their unprofessional behavior and violation of patient privacy/HIPPA, care or concern. Our case manager only cared about us when were at the hospital. Once the hospital pushed my mother out the door (still in a coma)-no one from the Shepherd Center called to check in on her, her progress or even just to check on us as a family. This hospital only cares about getting patients that are not progressing quick enough for them out of the way. I will say, the nurses and technicians are all wonderful and truly cared. Oftentimes their accommodations went above what we expected. The nurses showed so much care and compassion.
