This place has got to be a joke. I get sent here and the first thing I'm introduced to is a safety blanket, no sheets, and a prison-looking room. Couldn't have a sweatshirt or shorts because I was a personal safety risk, according to them. At first I refused to do the changing process because they wanted me to do it in front of them (I have a s/a history), so they threatened to force me and I eventually just went along with it. 2 days later I was chair restrained because I got angry. Ridiculous.

Hi there! Never do inpatient here if you're going voluntarily! Barstad, one of the only psychologists at this hospital, interrupted me during one on one time to tell me that my r*pe wasn't actually r*pe. He never let me explain the situation other than that it happened. He also belittled my problems that I shared during group time, implying that there were "too many" and that I needed to focus on the "important" one. I felt very unsafe in the place that I went to for healing, all of the staff were visibly mad at me for requesting to leave despite them knowing what happened. I have NEVER had an experience like this at any other place, even the inpatient hospitals that were more like jail. Never go willingly because you're bound to get mistreated.

I'd give this place a zero if I could. My son is currently there against my wishes as I had asked mayo to find a more suitable placement for him. They had a legally vulnerable young adult sign himself in there and they were made aware of his addiction issues to sugar and video games and his pre-diabetic disposition and he was to have no candy, pop, sweets of that type. They gave him a bunch of Easter candy and shrugged it off despite the documentation AND violated our religious beliefs. Don't send your kids here.

We came to visit a family member. We were early 6:15 PM visiting hours started at 6:30. I called the unit as instructed, and we were told it would be a few minutes. I completely ok with waiting for the posted hours. However, we waited in the entrance area. No seating, cold. Very unwelcoming.

Like a living nightmare, in the jail like side, I was shut in my room multiple times as another patient threatened and degraded me,staff allowed him to go to the general unit where there's more to do and groups, he threatened me with hopes my child's head (my cat)being hit by a truck as I lost her a few months earlier to dog attack, the staff favored him, a week after being discharged w chronic mental illnesses , my last remaining child(my emotional support dog...her head was hit by a truck!!!! On Christmas eve , which I'm sure has added more trauma to my diagnosis, nurses were awful, lazy, most my discharge notes were untrue and I didn't get the care or support at all necessary, only Kyle the security guard and Dr Barstad a psychologist left positive impressions on my visit, and of course a handful of other great patients, better support amongst each other than thru the Sanford staff, staff use cameras too much and assume instead of talking with me as an individual. Please stay far away from here

If I could give this place a 0 I would. This place is a joke. We drove 4.5 hours to come see my daughter and they said only 1 person could come in (THEY CALLED US BEFORE WE LEFT HOME TO TELL US IT GOT APPROVED FOR US TO COME) so we all missed work and were In a vehicle for over 9 hours to sit in a waiting room for a 10 minute visit. Seriously the worst communication and staff I have EVER encountered.

This place is the worst place ever I do not ever recommend getting here I have a friend who had a child put here and the poor child was treated like trash ply for 72 hours the mother was lied to and she couldn’t talk to her child and now the child’s mental health is worse then before the mother was told the child was given a blanket a pillow and things when she wasn’t
