This place is disgusting, lack of care, compassion, a very strong pungent odor of urine, patients not receiving post operative care, sitting in bed for over 24 hours in the same adult diaper when they are supposed to be assisted to use a commode. When I inquired I was told " you do not want these CNA's helping people to the commode" But the nurse I was talking to just walked out of the room and didnt help. The heat in the room was stifling and told both my family member and the roommate said they cannot sleep its so hot, I asked about being adjusted and I was told "it cannot be turned down." It was 85 and set on 75. How unhealthy is that? This place needs a good cleaning, staff needs training on how to actually care for patients with skills, dignity, compassion and empathy. I don't care if you are short staffed, stop accepting patients if you cannot give them the care that they require and letting them decide what they will and will not receive. I've never seen staff at a facility so lax and uncaring. I feel for the patients who do not have family advocating for them to get the care they deserve. The most attention my family member received was when they were discussing payment and money!! Other than that they are just a room number. I'm sure there will be a follow-up on this review telling me to call or email with my concerns. They know all of my concerns. If they cannot fix them at that level, then what would it do to call an 800 number and talk to someone who has no clue. After seeing all of the other negative reviews and nothing has changed, they do not care and nothing will be done. The State of Maine is the only 800 number I'll be calling. If this is a suggestion for a family member to reside here permanently or temporarily, I hope you can find an alternative. I've been in a lot of facilities and this is by far the worst. They would get better care in a prison or a dog shelter! This place needs to be shut down and reorganized!! This facility does not look anything like the photos. My #1 question is, would Bob Ritz the CEO put his parents in a facility like this?

The amount of abuse and neglect my grandmother has had to endure there is appauling. You guys didn't wash her laundry or give her a bath for 2 WEEKS. You left a staple from her surgery in her hip for weeks after it was ordered to be removed. Causing her pain and discomfort. You waited a week to inform her POA of bed sores that were already mentioned by the POA the week prior. You lost my grandmothers dietary desires and in an act of laziness, incompetence, and disregard for my grandmothers wishes, have been giving her CHEESEBURGERS FOR LUNCH AND DINNER FOR A MONTH! Your staff is aware that her sight is impaired and cant read the menu. Yet, nobody has offered her the options on the menu or even offered alternate options. Shes been fed cold cereal without being asked if she wants what is on the menu. This facility has disregarded the legal responsibilities and rights of my grandmother and her POA. Get ready for some calls cause the whole family is gonna let you know how we feel about the quality of care my grandmother has been given. My advice to anyone reading this: Look somewhere else.

We saw our family member today and enjoyed our visit! Found her when we entered, in a group of other clients being lead in hymn singing. She definitely seemed to be enjoying the experience! š The staff we interacted with were kind and upbeat. A nice visit!

My brother is a resident of the Sandy River Center. My friend and I planned a small birthday party for him. The staff were very friendly and pleasant. They helped us with silverware and enjoyed cake and ice cream with us. Everyone said hello to us and treated us like family. The center is beautiful. Iām a retired RN, but I would love to work there!

When the leadership has cut staff to the point they have an automated kiosk to sign in guests, you can be sure that they cut corners with resident care as well. I walked in on my loved one bare naked, lying cockeyed in bed, with no nurse available at 11am, long past the time they should have everyone situated. I had to sit him up and cover him. All this in a room as drab and clinical as any third world hospital. The only thing missing was a sign that says "would you hurry up and die already?" This was not always the case. Once this place was vibrant and well staffed. Residents were cared for because they had the personnel to make it happen. However, whatever international conglomerate is now in charge seems content to force the already overworked nursing staff to do even more with less and less. It's not the staff's fault they can't be in three places at once. This problem sits squarely with the upper management, who clearly view residents as dollar sign$ not humans. Shame on the LeAdErShIp at Sandy River Nursing Home! Y'all are disgusting.
