If you want actual medical care, do not go here. All of the staff is very rude and treat you like a burden rather than a patient. I went here when I severed a tendon in my finger completely in half. The doctor asked me if I could bend my finger so I tried and it didn’t bend. She told me I probably just wasn’t trying hard enough because it hurt and to come back when it was fully healed. I went to a different doctor a couple weeks later because it still wouldn’t bend and they booked me for surgery the next morning. They told me if I had waited any longer they might not have been able to do the surgery and it should have been operated on as soon as it happened. Had I listened to the original doctor at this hospital, I would have permanently lost mobility in my finger.

We haven't shared this because of the trauma experienced during this time. Around 2 years ago, my dad experienced a horrible heart attack. I just came from working a PM shift and would talk with my dad as usual, but this time he started to describe his symptoms of having chest pain, but also feeling sick. Which in combo is not a good sign. I took my dad to Eden medical center in Castro Valley because it's a 2 min drive and was the fastest option instead of waiting for a ambulance to arrive. As I'm driving my dad is expressing himself to be in lots of pain while laying in the back. We arrive and I run out to tell the security guard (older guy) that I need a wheel chair because my dad is having a heart attack. We get him inside and checked in. He is triaged by a male nurse, who takes his vitals and also a ekg. A older white woman RN takes him to another section to ask admission questions, my dad at this point is in so much pain that he asked her if it was possible to lay on a gurney, she told him no they dont have gurneys that he would have to sit. He couldnt talk much and wanted me to answer his admission questions. She looked at me and said I wouldnt know how to answer them. I was pretty shocked and upset. After the admission questions she looked at his EKG and said that it was normal and that he was not having a heart attack. That the most she would do for my dad was give him tylenol???? She wheeled him to the back to take blood, but by that point he said again that he was in a lot of pain and needed something. She said he could wait after getting blood work. He stood up to lay along the side of the wall to ease the pain and she called security to have my dad escorted out of the hospital. A younger security guy walked behind my dad until he left the building. No one helped us as we were outside, my dad fell to the floor in pain. Telling me to just take him home. I told him we were going to San Ramon Medical Center and that I didn't care what that RN said. I drove my dad as fast as I could to San Ramon, we arrived and I explained our situation, I was allowed to check him in without issues, we waited about 15 mins (no one else was waiting) he did his EKG, looked normal again, bit this time he was given pain meds and oxygen with a gurney to lay on. Was comfortable. We waited for the blood test to come back and it indicated high troponin levels. We waited for the specialist to come in, because it was around 3am and he had to drive from home. They took him in to check out his heart, he had 3 blockages. He went to John Muir in Concord to have open heart surgery, they found another blockage. So from that RN at Eden in Castro Valley telling my dad nothing was wrong to him having a Quadruple bypass surgery at John Muir. Also the older security guy at Eden was so sweet, he really did try to help us and I'm thankful he got a wheelchair. I am so happy that San Ramon Medical Emergency helped us. It was such a terrifying moment. John Muir staff were really great too. I understand it can be frustrating to wait while family is in pain, but this ED is very organized, polite, and knows exactly what they're doing.

They are charging me $10,000 for the use of emergency room when except for the time they took an x-ray and blood tests, I was sitting in the waiting room chair. I was cold, so I spent 99% of the time between my car and the waiting room chair. I was never given a room and yet i'm being charged ! The entire bill was around $27,000.

I had a terrible experience at this ER. The admission department is extremely inefficient. Despite being in significant pain, they showed no concern. They admitted two other patients who arrived after me, indicating a lack of proper triage. It seems you have to exaggerate your symptoms, like claiming chest pain, to get admitted quickly. They told me I would be seen in 15 minutes, but I ended up waiting for hours without any updates.

Given the abysmal reviews that nearly every ER in the East Bay has, I wasn't expecting much from this visit. But man, this was probably the best ER visit I've had, ever. It helped that I came around midnight when it was nearly empty, so I didn't have to wait long to check in, or to be given an exam room. The nurses who took my vitals were super friendly and made sure to keep asking me questions about my symptoms, encouraging more detail. I was there less than an hour before they got my bloodwork *and* a CT scan done, and I only waited about 30 minutes to find out the results. The main doctor who spoke to me on the results was genuinely interested in addressing all of my symptoms and questions - the complete opposite of other ER doctors I've seen who come in after you've been there 4 hours and spend 1 minute reciting test results to you before moving on. I really can't recommend this ER enough - come here if you're at all able, especially if it's the overnight shift when you won't be behind 20 other patients. To the nurses and doctor who helped me tonight (11/5/2023) - thank you, from the bottom of my heart. I really appreciate your effort, care, and attention.

If there is an option to give a negative rating, I may have done that. My dissatisfaction is due to their billing and prices. I think few others have mentioned that before as well. Just as an example here, this ER billed us $1249.00 for a single 1 view X-ray. From what I have found, this should be like $100 or $150 at most other places.

I went to the ER with an eye infection. I was out within 30 minutes. It was quick and the staff was super friendly.

The worst ER in the world. Triage nurse is human garbage. 7yo is in pain, they don’t care. She’s not dying so they don’t care. They say you’ll be admitted in 15 min and nothing happens for hours
