My father who was near death has been receiving excellent care here. The doctors are amazing and forthcoming with information and asking questions to help assist my father to recover his strength and faculties while working diligently to clear an infection that another hospital was unable to clear back in September. Everyone that I have come in contact with has treated him with the dignity and respect that the elderly deserve. For the first time in 5 months, this place in less than a week has given our family hope that we will get our patriarch back!

This place took care of my brother in a way that I could finally sleep at peace at home knowing he was well taken care of. He really enjoyed this place because all of the nurses were great and attentive! As soon as he pressed the nurse button, someone would be in his room right away. The nurses were amazing and basically treated my brother like family/a friend. We would especially like to mention Rachel, Brenda and Tania. They always made my brother smile and laugh and feel like a human. They were very nice to us when we would go visit as well. The therapist Trish was also great. She told us she had years of experience and we could tell! Thank you to everyone who took care of him. We’re very thankful.

Horrible place, had a friend of mine go in and the 99% of the nursing staff was unprofessional and out right violent at times. Reports of bloody dirty towels being forced onto the patient due to "more people are in line" was a common situation. Then on top of that, nurses are two facing patient caregivers. Fellow patients of my friend had to "fake" the place as being a good rehab center just to try and get out. Nurses also would be violent out of frustration with the elderly. Horrible place, my friend reported feeling traumatized by this place to the point of breaking down in tears. I would not wish this place's caregiving on any person in the world. Only the patients know the malpractices that go on in here.

Dr. Galicia and his entire staff are some of the most friendly and amiable doctors, nurses, therapists available in the Monterey County area. My entire family has great confidence in their professional ethic and their positive, honest approach to recovery. Even their patients (not just my family) agree that they provide the most complete care carefully paying attention and giving all the TLC that a home family environment can offer with the security of a trained-medical professional. Thank you one and all for your tenderness, your humor, your patience and care of our beloved Uncle Moe!!

if i can give 0 i would. completely neglect patients and are rude and short. Joe Ellen is the most pathetic social worker i have ever met, she shouldn’t have a job and doesn’t know one thing close to human kindness. It is a disgusting facility and treat a patient like a animal and not a human. Do not recommend shut this place down.

I was involved in an auto accident and spent one week in the Sam Karas Acute Rehabilitation Center which cost my insurance company $38,693.54. That comes to $5,527 per day! The nurses were mostly pleasant and took good care of me, but the therapy I received was not good. The "scheduling" was uncoordinated, the sessions would often begin late and end early and cost around $400 for each 30-60 minute session, of which there were 3 per day. Most of the therapists did not even know what my injuries were and none of them knew the details, so really weren't able to provide any type of useful therapy. Having me get out of bed and sit in wheelchair putting my body weight on a fractured pelvis, lumbar, and sacrum is NOT therapy. In addition, I was assigned a different therapist each day and there was no communication between therapists, so it was like starting over every day. There were a few knowledgeable, very helpful therapists, so not everyone there is as clueless as the rest. Overall, the center is unreasonably expensive and is more interested in "pain management"(which means offering you way too much medication) than rehabilitation. I ended up leaving a week early, against doctors orders, and i'm glad I did as the bill to my insurance company would have been double what it was. This center is a prime example of the outrageous costs in our healthcare system.

It's clear the Admitting Staff ONLY cares about the Insurance Money. Most Nurses and ALl PT/OT THERAPISTS were great. However I was forgotten about twice for over an hr. Had a bucket of pee dumped on my feet wasnt cleaned up. Someone told OT couldn't dress myself had to take my clothes off and redress. Told by Social Worker I REFUSED THERAPY and couldn't walk up 4 stairs a BLATANT LIE. Told by Social Worker if I signed myself out against medical advice I wouldn't be given any Durable Medical Devices or my Prescriptions. Clearly Admiting Staff ares about the insurance money

Great staff! Wish I could’ve stayed a little longer, definitely caring and responsive. Only gripe is limited pain control while there and sometimes the nurses station operators take a long time or don’t respond at all.
