I cannot say enough good things about the rehab on the first floor. I met the team, Emily, Mandy, Amanda, Kele, Sam , Deb and I'm sure I'm forgetting some when my dad was there for some basic rehab from a vascular surgery, upon his discharge , my grandmother was sent there for some basic rehab when she unfortunately experienced a stroke . They were so professional and kind with her and when she was basically unable to communicate they treated her with the utmost respect and kindness. Unfortunately, her condition deteriorated and she passed away this past week there. This was the worst week in our lives but they made us comfortable and made sure we had everything we needed , they kept us informed at every turn. We can't say enough good things about them and will recommend them every chance we get. Thanks for everything!

We visited 2 relatives, both living on the same floor. Both seemed happy and pleased with the care they are receiving. Staff was accomodating helpful and cheerful. Wallpaper in room could use a little refreshing ...

They treated my mom with kindness and worked with her to get her strength back and she really liked the nurses and us visiting with her we were treated with kindness. We felt very welcomed to your facility. Thank you so much

If it was just the nursing staff and PT/OT I would give a 5 star review. They were all polite and pleasant. Always trying to make residents as comfortable as possible. The loss of 3 stars is solely at the hands of the staff doctor. My better half was there for an extended stay due to a leg fracture surgery that became infected. While there another medical condition manifested itself and was completely neglected by the "physician." He would comment that there was definitely something wrong with her toes and something needed to be done about it but he never ordered any tests to determine what was the cause. After release her foot continued to worsen and it was ultimately discovered by a simple CT scan that she has arterial blockages to her legs that could have resulted in the loss of both her legs. Thankfully we found doctors that actually care about their patients and will hopefully save her limbs. Again the rest of the staff was ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ but that doctor nearly permanently crippled her. Her main complaint during her stay was that the food was very bland. Maybe get some of those little packets of salt and pepper for the residents that can handle more "spicy" food. Edit: Rutland wins back one star for administrative diligence in following up.👍

The staff was so friendly and always just popping into my mom’s room to make sure she didn’t need anything.

It’s weird that I am saying something positive about a Genesis facility. But I’ve always been honest by calling a spade just that. How I judge a facility is based on the human factors from patient to staff and the position of leadership. In addition, there are 2 guiding compasses I use to navigate at all times, they are: 1) If I was the patient lying in that bed, how would I want to be treated? 2) What did my audience see from my performance, did I at least follow the policies? Therefore, performance matters in business and for me personally with 20 years of leadership under my belt. When I evaluate a facility it’s coming from a place of experiences with eyes for innovation but no voice to implement feasible ideas. In this case let’s turn our focus on Rutland Healthcare and Rehabilitation, Vt., where I am fairly new. I sense the culture here is better. In my honest opinion for the 3 days I’ve been here, I rate patient care at 4.5 stars; HIPPA 4.8; and staff/ patient communication 4.0. It’s great to observe how the LNAs/nurses address the residents and importantly the short response time it takes to respond to a call light. The leadership: So far the administrator has truly impressed me with her humility. She was so humane and conscientious as she investigated a complaint made out of pure misunderstanding. The complaint had the potential to go grey immediately, but she gathered data FROM THE SOURCES NOT THROUGH THE GRAPEVINE before coming to a conclusion. In most facilities when a patient even with diagnosed psychological disturbances or dementia complain against a Travel Staff (nurse or LNA), no data gathering takes place. The worker/traveler service is immediately terminated. Absolutely no due diligence occurs. Travel Healthcare Staff in some Genesis facilities are treated like ‘illegal subjects’. Therefore, it was more than a pleasant surprise to be treated like human in a Genesis facility. I’m cautiously optimistic that 2-4-6-8 weeks I am still singing the same song about the leadership and staff at Rutland Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, Vt.

My mother in law is a resident here, her room is clean, they have fun activities that put a smile on her face. The nurses are very nice and keep us informed. The consistent complaint is the food, although I have not tried it myself, the meals I have seen do not look all that appetizing. Over all my husband and I are happy to have such caring staff to take care of my mother in law.

I have had both my parents as residents to Rutland Healthcare and Rehab in the last few years. The staff we have dealt with have been nothing but professional. Most staff are like family to us and very supportive after my mom passed. Administration staff really puts themselves into the job as far as even feeding residents and passing out meal trays. They go above and beyond for all residents and staff. Highly recommended for your loved ones.
