Dan is fantastic! I consider myself pretty fit (I teach yoga and workout classes) with no debilitating physical ailments, but Dan was able to diagnose some mild chronic issues I had and recommend exercises I could do on my own to treat them and improve my range of motion and flexibility even further. What Dan does really well (besides being really personable and easy to get along with) is apply his deep understanding of the holistic body to explain to you why things might be acting the way they are. He says the body is interconnected and even though your knee might hurt, it may be because your body is overcompensating elsewhere during your daily activities. Oftentimes, the most flexible people overcompensate the most because their body allows them to. Even if you consider yourself athletic and don’t really have any of the traditional issues you’d go to physical therapy for, Dan and Roots are an excellent resource to get in touch with to keep you in the best shape possible. Highly recommend! 10/10.

Roots Physical Therapy and Performance Last year I had an Anterior Total Hip Replacement followed by several weeks of Physical Therapy from Dan Lang, P.T. DPT. During the physical therapy sessions for my hip Dan explained that there is a connectivity from the hip to other areas of the body that influence how each area and joint are mobilized and support each other. So, in other words, focusing on just the recovery of the hip joint did not integrate other joints and movement that are needed to be aligned for proper overall movement and functioning. Through Dan’s expertise and head to toe evaluation, he was able to identify areas of concern such as my feet and ankle flexibility, my posture including my limited neck movement to design a program focusing on those areas. I will continue to see Dan as needed and highly recommend him as an expert in full body assessment and functionality. Dan’s philosophy of focusing on the body as a whole in some ways is unique as other therapists might focus only on one area based upon an x-ray, surgery site, or order from a doctor.

Dan is a master of getting optimal motion out of any problem areas your body might experience. I have both hips replaced and some other torso issues. Dans approach is whole body motion. He taught me that the location. of the problem can stem from an entirely different origin and he is an expert at identifying that, in some cases can save you from a surgery. I hope to access his private PT services well into the future. Look no further if you need PT.

I was referred to Dan by a fellow physical therapist to get help treating a herniated disc. I had worked with several other physical therapists in North County with very little success. Dan was excellent from the very first session about being really thoughtful with his evaluations. He spent time to identify the root causes of why I kept getting re-injured in a way that no one else had. He actually identified links throughout my body that may've been contributing to my back pain. Each thing that he identified was something that I felt in my body but no other PTs spent any time addressing. I'm grateful Dan takes such a holistic approach to treatment. He helped me break the pain cycle I was in and gave me incredibly useful in-home exercises to do to enhance the work that we were doing together. The exercises that he taught me are the foundation of my exercise program to this very day. The rehab exercises turned into injury prevention exercises which has really helped me return to living a more active life. He was very generous with his time (our sessions always felt unrushed) and his knowledge. I would highly recommend Dan!

Dan is the MAN! I have done a lot of work with Dan on both of my shoulders, and my daughter has done work on her ankle and knee. Dan is professional and extremely knowledgeable on all things anatomy. He quickly got to the root of the problem (no pun intended) on both me and my daughter, and we both noticed improvements immediately. He also does a nice job with education on how to keep yourself healthy moving forward! I highly recommend!

Dr. Lang has been my physical therapist for about 6 months working on the aftermath of two hip replacement surgeries, one of which had several problems. He has helped me learn to walk better again and is continuing with therapy for muscles that don’t want to respond. He is always courteous , professional, and friendly offering suitable exercises that I can do on my own to help achieve our goal. I highly recommend consulting him for any type of physical therapy issues.

Thanks to Orangetheory in La Costa, CA I was introduced to Dr. Dan Lang and decided to approach him about some postural dysfunction issues I wished to gain a better understanding of. I am rating my experience with five stars because in just a handful of appointments my understanding of what I initially believed to be a primary concern developed into a much more sophisticated awareness of my movement patterns and how I can improve the way I care for myself moving forward. Dan is knowledgeable, thoughtful and will take the time necessary to make sure his clients feel heard and understood. That is a rare and special quality in any health care provider.

Roots Physical Therapy helped me overcome my injury and pain in a way that no other PT ever did. Dan is incredibly knowledgeable and easy to work with. I've learned the hard way that you get what you pay for and that private physical therapy is significantly superior to the insurance-provided therapists I tried before. Highly recommended!
