Do not take your loved ones here. My mother was here to get an some antibiotics and build up her strength. When she arrived, she was using a walker to get to the bathroom. Once here, they said, "Oh honey, you have a diaper, just pee. We don't let you up." PT only once a day, maybe that. Nurses don't let people out of bed and claim it's a PT thing. They didn't notice my mom going downhill, just staring off into space, losing weight, and not eating. When giving the antibiotic, one nurse stays and stares you down to take it; others let her sip it. You speak to the head of the RN or Med to ask how to help my Mom take her meds and come to an agreement, but they don't tell the staff, and you're back to square one. A doesn't talk to B to tell C, and D doesn't care. When my mom arrived, we asked about an end date. When could she go home? They said she has no end date, and we don't see her leaving. She was there to take an antibiotic from an IV for 10 days. We ended up taking Mom out of there directly to Stanford. She will be home in 3 days. They are so used to old people, nonresponsive they couldn't tell my mom was going downhill fast. Teach your staff to say the signs and not just accept them.

Was also DNR'd as a registry. Was only there once and thought I did my best with the information I was given by staff. Of course Clipboard gives you no reason as to why you're blocked by facility. Kind of disappointing, as I wouldn't have minded picking up future shifts. Oh well...

The worst thing about Riverwood is that there are no bedside telephones in patient rooms, leaving those patients with no cell phones very isolated and when admitted there is no facility information given for ex: no phones, how to order your meals, how your meds are dispensed, things like that to me seem to be basic new patient info. However, would have given them 5 stars except for what i mentioned above. I received just wonderful care from both the aids and med nurses. With the exception of several bad treatments from both aids and med nurses that were thankfully few and far between, over 85% of the nurses taking care of me were exceptional in every way possible often going beyond job expectations. Often i heard so much laughter from the nurses during day and evening shifts and when coming into my room, they would have big smiles on their faces. I would advise both patients and families closely monitor their discharge planning. Having hip surgery, the very 1st call we received came from an agency that provided housekeeping, some cooking and grocery shopping, showers but absolutely no physical or occupational therapists or nurses to monitor my wound care. One last thing with the discharge planning is i was told several times that i would be sent home with at least 7 days worth of meds. I clarified each time i was told this if that included my pain med, i was assured and promised that at least 7 days worth of pain meds would be sent home. I take and took there between 6 or 8 pills per day. Mostly 8, making that between 42 and 56 pain tabs, however, i was only given about 4 days worth. Was very unhappy that they did not honor their promise about this and really would have preferred them to be honest and not lie to my face multiple times. My last comment has to do with their rehab dept. In feb, following my 1st hip surgery, i was sent to another rehab nursing [that i wont be naming] home in Stockton that had a very large and well equiped rehab dept. including a full and complete bathroom that was used in the training of transferring to and from toilet. At Riverwood, their rehab room was pretty small and cramped and no bathroom at all. Despite these limitations they had Jeff and Faith, both just delightful and very experienced. Mostly i worked with Faith, a PTA, who has such a wonderful way about her who magically made the things she asked me to do seemed easy and her way of asking me to do things increased my abililty to be able to do so much more at home than i had done in over 4 months, shocking both myself and my spouse. Both my spouse and myself will be forever grateful for this beautiful ,kind, wonderful and talented soul. Sorry this was so long.

My father-in-law was a patient there for almost 2 years, and he was rowdy, to say the least. The staff enjoyed him. When it came time for him to pass, I went and stayed with him for his final three days, I did not leave the facility. All the nurses and even housekeeping we're coming in and checking on him and he wasn't even their patient. They went above and beyond to make sure I was comfortable. So I want to give a big shout out to the staff At this facility, for taking such good care of my father-in-law Thank you, from the Castillo family

The only thing I do not like about this place you can never get ahold of your family member on the phone and after 6 you really don't get through everyday I call to talk to my mom's and every day it's something different easier to drive down there and see them

If I could rate them lower than one star, I would. My father's stay at this facility for PT/OT was a nightmare. Despite his severe knee pain and swelling, which rendered him unable to undergo therapy, his condition was left untreated. This neglect led to the development of bedsores and a large rash covering most of his back. Adding insult to injury, his wallet was stolen, and he now suffers from swelling and pain in his right wrist, which has also gone untreated. Despite the presence of a case manager at the facility, who is supposed to advocate for patients, little action was taken to address these issues. I was left with no choice but to reach out to his insurance myself to secure assistance from a case manager who could help facilitate referrals to other specialists for proper care. The lack of care and accountability at this facility is deeply concerning and has had a profound impact on my father's well-being.

This is truly a 5 star facility. From the minute you walk in you are greeted by friendly staff. They have one main nurses area and you can see how well they all work together. The cleanliness is most noticeable while walking through the facility. The rehab staff went above and beyond and we are so grateful for them. I would highly recommend Riverwood for Rehabilitation.
