My aunt has been there for almost 2 months. Where do I begin. She had 1 shower, when she arrived. She was bathing in the bathroom. Has a severe rash under her breast. Meds, were not given on time. When I say meds I mean insulin. Director of nursing, covers her staff well. Not in a good way. The Director of the facility, he is a complete joke. Trying to get the truth out of any of them it's terrible. How they have such a good rating is beyond me. I don't want to discuss the nursing staff. Actually, there was one man who works 2nd shift that was caring and answered all questions. If he didn't know the answer, he made it clear he wasn't sure. PT and OT was great. Food was not always hot. She was giving fish that wasn't cooked at all. It was frozen on her tray. I really wish the State would look into this place.

Clean facility, staff were extremely friendly. The true stars of River Terrace were the nurses! They provided gentle care, and were personable.

Riverside Terrace should be ashamed; openly hostile staff, unwilling to provide basic assistance and care to residents. Injuries and incidents go unreported, the medical staff do not collaborate with care teams, and the rehabilitation/PT is inconsistent at best. Nurses engage in retaliation for complaining. Bathrooms aren’t cleaned, urine is on the floor, and commodes, required for some patients, are literally made out of plumbing pipe and entirely inappropriate.

Wonderful caring staff. Great care for my 95 year old mother in-law stroke victim. Good food. She required chronic wound care which was excellent and made a lot of progress in healing. Would have been 5 stars but the facility could do a little better with toileting support.

This is the place to send your family if you DONT care about them. The PT and OT is wonderful and the food is good. This they would get 5 stars. RN’s do not have knowledge about medications, they don’t know what they’re giving or what it’s for, it’s also up to the patient to ask for medication. Unfortunately they are very short staffed as with every other place and it causes the patients to suffer. This place DOES NOT answer the call light. I have witnessed this on a daily basis which is very sad for anyone needing help to use the bathroom. The patients are not bathed properly if at all due to staffing. Sometimes you might get to wash up by noon if you’re one of the lucky ones. My mom had vision problems so she did need more help but often the reaction when they finally answered was now what. Her roommate often waited over an hour. I spoke to other family members in the facility and they all have same complaints and afraid to leave their side. You’re not allowed more than 1 cream and 1 sugar. I asked for 4 days what the menu was so I knew which days I needed I should supply her with food and no response. The facility gets medications from a pharmacy far away and when they run out, the patient has to wait for a delivery. I had to bring in meds from home. The personal care is lacking, the RN tried to give anti fungal cream instead of a muscle rub. Which again I had to run out and supply. Lack of knowledge and staff really is terrible and your family member will suffer. Even after talking about my concerns with management things never improved. I had to take her out of there as quickly as I could. She would call me at night and all you could hear was other patients screaming and begging for help. It is a clean facility and the therapy is good.

The main problems are they have a tendency to lie to the patient and family, 3rd shift doesn't do they job and doesn't care, if bed ridden they have a habit to stop helping the patient, they make people feel like a prisoner. The other problem is physical therapy, the staff is very nice however they barely worked with my mom, I can understand not working with her if she's sick but there were days where she wasn't sick and they barely worked with her. There are some good staff but few and far in-between. The nurses cover for each other if one is in the wrong and it's no use bring to the attention of the director of nurses or the director of the facility they believe the staff over the patient or family
