I saw Derek for lower back and hip pain. I found him to be knowledgeable with great communication skills. He was willing to spend the time to explain his process and diagnosis and to answer my questions. I liked his straight forward and direct approach and the fact that my PT sessions were always between an hour and an hour and a half - not the usual 30 or 40 minutes. This extra time allowed him to take the time to demonstrate the exercises and stretches he recommended and to include massage as part of my therapy. I left therapy with a great plan Derek designed which I have incorporated into my regular exercise routine. I highly recommend Derek and Return to Sports Physio.

Dereck is so knowledgeable, having his doctorate in physical therapy, and he makes sure he understands what is happening so he can properly diagnose it. He takes the time to thoroughly explain his diagnosis and answers all questions. My daughter has had several ankle and knee issues from dancing, and Dereck helps her through the acute stage, and then he tailored an exercise program to help strengthen and stretch her legs and hips, as well as whole-body exercises to keep the entire muscle chains healthy and strong. The sessions are at least an hour each, so Dereck spends lots of time with his patients, making sure you know how to properly do the exercises. I highly recommend Dr. Steffe!

I had been struggling with right knee inflammation for two years. Dereck diagnosed it as Patella Femoral Syndrome. Due to this syndrome, my right quad atrophied considerably. I am so happy to have found Dereck. At other physical therapy clinics, I felt like I was in an assembly line—being handed off to PT’s in training; not always getting the same therapist; feeling rushed in a chaotic environment. When you see Dereck, you are the only patient in his quiet, calm clinic. Dereck is very attentive and knowledgeable. He takes the time to assess your whole body mechanics and determines where the problems are (e.g. muscle tightness, muscle weakness/imbalance). Dereck then develops a plan specifically for you. Dereck has encouraged and helped me so much! I highly recommend Dereck!

Dereck is excellent! After trying to self-diagnose and heal my hip pain for several months and getting nowhere, I contacted Dereck and after 2 visits I am well on my way to recovery. He listens intently and has an endless number of exercises and techniques to get you on the road to recovery. I highly recommend Dereck!

Derek has been amazing helping my daughter recover from ACL surgery. Very knowledgeable and attentive. Also, flexible with scheduling which has been key to helping her get the twice weekly PT she needs.

Went in for pain that i thought stemmed from an old injury, Dereck listened to my concerns, did some work and theorized that my pain was coming from another issue altogether. Explained to me what was going on and it all made sense. 20 minutes later i walked out feeling great and with confidence and a regimen to correct my issue. This guy listened and knew what he was doing, very grateful have found him and his help.
