Recovia Tempe is the best option for behavioral health needs. This place is very unique in what they provide. It’s staffed with incredible people that genuinely care about your well being. I can’t recommend them enough. The medical provider is monumentally important and she can handle any type of issue with ease and diligence. I have the utmost respect for Sara and will always be forever grateful for the help she has given me. You will not meet a single staff member at Recovia Tempe that doesn’t belong here. They are all so personable and sincere. Sara, Sal, Kelsie(the beautiful one at the front), Emma, V, Greg, Mason, Daniel and Theodora. When all other avenues failed, I was accepted at Recovia. They have made a profound impact on my life and I have been so blessed to have been a patient here!

While at first i wasn't very receptive to the idea of attending Recovia, over time i grew to actually enjoy my time with everyone at the facility(Tempe) and even look forward to my sessions. Everyone is very open, understanding, and at least attempts to be helpful. Vikaas is a great counselor, along with everyone else. The physical therapists are all very helpful, and try to work around any issues you may br struggling with, and medical is always so nice.

While I believe in the evidence-based treatment model at Recovia, I was let down by much of their approach. It often felt tired and monotonous. Many of the providers present with varying levels of compassion fatigue and/or burnout. I understand some amount of burnout in a behavioral health setting is all but unavoidable. Still, it can be very discouraging to witness. They have great ideas, and scientific research supports their model, but their execution feels lacking. I think the program needs a refresh. Theodora, however, is an absolutely excellent counselor. Her passion for helping people is evident in her work. She is genuinely interested and invested in the experiences of others. She listens, she asks questions, she validates, she offers perspective. It is such a (unfortunately) rare and refreshing experience to have those kinds of grounded, reciprocal, real interactions with a provider. And as a traumatized person who is trying to reprocess their nervous system responses, those moments are VITAL and necessary for growth and healing. In a medical field that far too often fails people by neglecting crucial aspects of their experience, and as someone who has been personally affected by these failings, Theodora was a light. She really cares, and it shows. I feel very similarly about Vikaas. He was kind and curious, and had a great sense of humor. He put in consistent effort to create an engaging group dynamic that allowed for the safe expression of thoughts and feelings. He was nonjudgmental and accepting. He, too, truly cares. Mason is an awesome PT. He is very knowledgeable about some unique conditions that can affect the body, such as Ehler's Danlos Syndrome. It can be difficult to find medical providers, at any level, who are as curious and interested in learning about some of these more "niche" conditions such EDS as Mason clearly is. It was deeply appreciated and I felt very seen. In a more just world, Theodora would be running things at Recovia. If she were, I'd feel a thousand times more confident recommending their services to others. That being said, if you are struggling with chronic pain and/or substance use and you want to learn more about the relationship between these things, they're a fine starting point. Their program is flawed, but it's still the only one of it's kind in the valley (that I know of).

I was referred to Recovia by a rheumatologist for help with chronic pain from arthritis and fibromyalgia. I have never met such a staff of people who are genuinely concerned for the people under their treatment. Every single person from the front desk to PT to people running the business end of things - every single one, sincerely cares. Did my pain go away? No, but I didn’t expect it to. Recovia teaches how to use different skills and “tools” to manage the pain. The groups are small which is great because everyone can participate. As I neared the end of my time, I found myself wanting every family member and friend to be able to go through Recovia. They teach many techniques to manage life. If you have a chance to attend Recovia’s program, do so, you won’t regret it.

Unique and important treatment option for those dealing with chronic illness/pain, addiction, and mental health challenges. It's even somehow covered by insurance, which is a big obstacle especially when it comes to mental health. If more people had this kind of treatment available, there would be far fewer unnecessary surgeries, lost productivity, and have a HUGE impact on the opioid crisis, for which legislators & medical administrators are just exacerbating with their wrongheaded and in many cases draconian laws. As a result, more people commit suicide, destroying families and causing needless suffering, and even more suicides. Recovia offers compassion and real solutions, instead of drugs, surgery, or quick fixes that do more harm than good, while Recovia looks at the relationship between chronic pain and depression, stress, etc., because that link is ALWAYS there. It's not for everyone, but I hope this kind of program spreads to other parts of the country and can lead to more lasting and widespread change in how we treat sick people in this country.

At this place I learned healthy tools and techniques to cope with my anxiety and to work on a healthy mind and body. The work is on me, but they will support you all the way in the process. Recommend.

I went to Recovia 4 years ago, and it was awesome! I had the best counseling I’ve ever had, loved the physical therapy, enjoyed the groups, and just thought all of the employees were wonderful! I heard that they really screen well when hiring-they want people who care. I have recommended this to other people. Truly helped me with depression and to stay off of opiates.
