They are very hard to reach over the phone! You have to leave a message nearly every time you call and then hope they call you back. Also, its 434pm right now. It states they close at 5 yet when I call them the answering machine tells me they have closed for the day. I have left them 2 messages already and have not heard back yet. The staff, other than the front receptionist, was not very friendly. They also called in the wrong RX to the pharmacy and told me they could not do further tests on my family member due to not accepting his insurance, after setting up the appt initially because they said they did.

Other than mostly long wait times I would recommend Dr. Prevost at Southern Orthopedic to anyone in need of back surgery. His bedside manner is wonderful, warm and inviting. I give them 5-stars! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Dr. Harbin has been amazing with Steven. He did everything and still goes above and beyond for us. The staff and nurses are so wonderful. I don’t know what I would’ve done with out them. I wish I could give them more stars! Highly recommend!

Dr Russell is very personable but most of the time there is extended waits in both the waiting room and the exam room. I understand making money, but maybe schedule less patients so we can get in and out and not spend hours waiting. Our time is valuable too.

My first experience with Southern Orthopedic was disappointing. I had my knee replaced, unfortunately I slipped and fell with my leg twisting as I fell on it and the bottom half came loose. I got it replaced again this time I didn't fall on it. I have had One back Surgery performed by Dr. Prevost. Originally he told me that it would take 3 surgeries to fix my back. When I recovered for a number of months he ordered x-rays and another MRI. I returned for the results and set up my next surgery but to my surprise he said no more surgeries on my spine. What surgeon would turn down more income from more surgeries. A very good, honest and caring doctor, a doctor who asks if you would like to have prayer before he operates and gets down on his knees asking God for guidance and a healing for you. He said that I could go to many doctors that would be happy to operate on me but I'm telling you like you were my brother don't. I have zero healthy joints in my spine now as they have only deteriorated more the past 20 years. But my pain is less as things grow together and I get shorter every year. He said that if things got to the point that I could no longer handle the pain. Come back and he would do all that he could do to help me. A number of years later he had to do decompression surgeries on my neck. My neurologist at the time recommended that I have the surgeries before I started to loose control of some of my body functions. I trust Dr Mark Prevost Sr. with mine and my families health and healthy futures. He has operated on my youngest son and last week on my wife's neck, I am thankful to have such a skilled surgeon in our rural county, he could be at just about any where on earth but he chose here in Jasper Alabama. He mentored my nephew allowing him to observe, encouraging him to become a surgeon. Christopher Shubert went on to UAB then Mayo Clinic in Rochester from there he was one of two that was selected to a fellowship in Toronto. Today he is an accomplished surgeon at John Hopkins Hospital in Philadelphia. The doctors at Southern Orthopedic encouraged a teenager they had met through their children in high school to be a great surgeon.

I have Dr. Russell. And he is very personable. He explains everything until u understand exactly what your treatment plan is. I have 3 pelvis fractures so knowing and understanding my treatment and recovery is very important

My sister was here for an MRI and she says the techs were very nice. Nuff said!

Never get a referral to this place!!! They can't answer the phones, they won't call you back and they don't care how much pain you are in. I suggest getting a referral to any other place but here.
