Dr. Shaha and his team provided us with exceptional care. They were professional, friendly, empathetic, and knowledgable. Dr. Shaha took his time to explain his findings, discuss in-depth the anatomy, and provide helpful educational resources, without making us feel rushed. He gave his honest opinion on interventional options to consider, making us feel informed and empowered. The whole experience from check in to x-rays to checkout was streamless, with minimal wait time. The office was welcoming, clean, and ascetically pleasing. We will use Pioneer Peak Orthopedics again for any of our future needs.

The service I got at this Dr office was truly top tier. From the moment I walked in the door, to the x rays I had done with Kathy and Nick, and on my way out with Sydney, this staff made me feel welcomed and the whole experience was truly remarkable. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been to a Dr office and the staff is the least personal or welcoming. This office was different. I haven’t been anywhere in quite a while around staff that actually made you feel like someone cares. Now to Dr. Strohmeyer. The moment I met him I knew this gentleman cared. It was my first time meeting him but he was a very pleasant and caring person. He didn’t make me feel pressured as he gave me options and wanted the best not for him or his office, but for me. He was an amazing caring Dr who was very informative and took the time to answer any questions of mine and to a point where I understood him. This visit turned my whole day around. I highly recommend Pinoeer Peak. This is the first review I think I’ve made since I moved to Alaska. But I really wanted him and the staff to know that simply treating clients with respect and dignity really goes along way nowadays. Thank you Pioneer Peak and thank you Dr Strohmeyer for making this a very pleasant experience. And I’m looking forward to coming back. -Simon Cooper

I crushed part of and almost severed my finger. I heard about Dr. Shaha through another doctor’s recommendation. Dr. Shaha called my husband while I was in the emergency room, and he got me into his schedule and into surgery immediately. The surgery was a success, and I got to keep my finger. The office is beautiful, and the employees are friendly and timely. They gave me simple instructions to prepare for the surgery and made everything extremely easy for me by managing all my insurance billing. During my return visits with Dr. Shaha, he took the time to explain what was going on, gave instructions to speed up the healing process and prepared me for what to expect as I healed. I highly recommend Pioneer Peak and particularly Dr. Shaha.

I know healthcare in Alaska is poor quality at baseline, but of the 3 ortho offices I work with routinely, Pioneer Peak is consistently the worst through the years. Terrible care, terrible bedside manner, terrible care plans, terrible communication. Poorly controlled pain. Routinely dismissive of concerns of referring health care providers. I can confidently say they are my 3rd choice in the Mat Su Valley.

I got an “estimate” to have simple steroid knee injections done after the surgery didn’t relieve my pain. I paid in full for the injections before I went back to be injected and then left without issue. Months later I got a call that I owed more money because the Doctor spent 5 more minutes with me than they quoted me for. I explained that I had paid in full and they said it was an “estimate” and they can change the price any time without letting me know before. Medical is the only place that can change the price at any time they want without any warning and if you don’t pay, they’ll send you to collections. I know Dr Maltano is a good doctor, I just can’t believe he lets his office be run on guesses and surprise charges.

Doctor Montano gave me a partial knee replacement a couple of years ago.I hike a lot. Three times a week it is at the Butte, steep with steps etc. This morning it was -19. I have not had one bit of pain. I am amazed at how well he performed the operation. Can't thank him enough for his work. He has been active in our community, has a great attitude and I strongly recommend him. The whole staff is great. Dr. Haggerty operated on my right shoulder twice. No issues there as well.,If you are active, and hurt, Pioneer Peak is the place to go.

Dr. Montano is one of a kind. I was in a terrible car accident last August that left me with an overwhelming number of injuries. At the time of the accident, I was in my final 2 years of finishing my doctorate program. I have been working with Dr. M for over a year now. He’s performed 2 knee surgeries and a shoulder surgery. Despite all my injuries I have managed to continue through my program. He’s been an invaluable support for me along the road to recovery. I don’t know if I would have made it through without Dr. M’s surgical skills, compassion, and kindness.

Dr. Adams took the time to properly diagnose my severe back pain when other doctors dismissed me. I appreciate the personal interest he takes in his patients and am impressed how he really tries to figure out what's wrong leaving surgery as the last option. Unfortunately I needed surgery but he did a fantastic job and now I am virtually pain free. His nurse Chelsea is personable and professional and I would recommend Dr. Adams for all your orthopedic needs.
