I am extremely happy with everything about my visit to Dr. Elfenbein's office. His staff were courteous, friendly and efficient. Dr. Elfenbein himself was caring and compassionate. He clearly focuses on the patient who is in his care at the moment; I felt I had all of his attention. He listened, asked pointed questions, examined my hands thoroughly and diagnosed quickly. I left his office feeling better and knowing what to do if symptoms recur.

We cannot say enough wonderful things about Dr. Elfenbein! We feared our three year old daughter had broken her wrist when playing with her sisters in Crested Butte this summer. We had her x-rayed at a clinic across the street, there was no sign of a fracture, but they put a soft cast on her to be safe. The next day we popped into Dr. Elfenbein's office on a whim for a second opinion. After reviewing our daughter's x-ray and performing some simple tests with her wrist and elbow, he deduced that she may have nurse-maid's elbow, something his own son had experienced several times. Dr. Elfenbein was extremely respectful of our little one and the pain she was experiencing, truly a beautiful bedside manner, and he was able to manipulate her arm back in position and two minutes later she was absolutely fine. Dr. Elfenbein was our hero! We hope to stop by and say "Hi" next time we're in CB.

Dr. Elfenbein operated on my fractured tibia, which is healing beautifully. He is detailed oriented throughout the recovery process. He shows genuine interest in the patient’s personal experience and has a kind manner. His staff are professional and friendly. I would not hesitate to recommend Dr. Elfenbein and the Pinnacle Orthopedics team.

Seriously, if you need an orthopedic doctor (which this is Gunnison County, of course you will) I can’t recommend Dr. David Elfenbein enough. After I spectacularly fractured my kneecap (and my neck) in a fall from three stories, I was more nervous about working with doctors then I was about recovery. My first pleasant surprise was when he told me that I wouldn’t surgery despite how bad my knee cap looked. We were going to wait (with a immobilizing brace for my knee cap so it couldn’t move) and see how my knee would start healing. He also encouraged me to get off painkillers ASAP (which I have had painkiller-happy doctors before so this was a 2nd surprise) and what diet I should switch to, which would encourage bone healing. He even worked with me about my neck, not in the way of diagnosis or treatment, but as something we needed to keep in mind with physical therapy. He was genuinely interested in what was happening and my overall wellbeing. Also, the CB office has their own Xray machine so I didn’t have to go to a separate place and I could get them during an appointment. Ultimately I didn’t need surgery for my knee (Hooray!) When I was healed enough to go to physical therapy (only month after my accident! Hooray!) he asked ME where I wanted to go, which I really appreciated! My friend Janelle Brown from Crested Butte Physiotherapy was my first choice and became my one and only throughout my recovery. Side note: if you need a physical therapist, which of course you will this is Gunnison County, check her out. I was really surprised again by how Dr. Elfenbein worked with Janelle Brown for my physical therapy and vice versa. He would tell her how my healing was going to keep her informed on what exercises my knee could handle. In turn, she would tell him how my progress was going. When my knee cap decided to act like a clutch in a car which started to prevent me from progressing, he called me and told to get my butt in his office so he could fit me with a brace. While I am still in PT, I am able to enjoy a full range of motion in my knee and I am almost to full strength again. I couldn’t have done this without Elfenbein, his office staff (Hi, Mia and Ginger!) and Janelle Brown. So in short, if you need a doctor who is kind, informative without acting superior, patient and will go to battle for you and want to be greeted by nice, funny and very organized office staff who can handle X-ray imaging in house. Go to Pinnacle Orthopedics.

Dr. Elfenbein and his office provided great patient care. He met us after hours when I broke my collarbone. His surgical repair set me on a quick course to recovery. Highly recommended!

I have seen Dr. E on more than one occasion for issues. He was right on the money with the diagnosis and the course of treatment. Dr. E has a great "bedside manor", is easy to talk to and He explains clearly and thoroughly the issue being dealt with. Thank you Dr. E!
