This is an amazing center filled with amazing therapists. The high level of professionalism is apparent at all levels and the commitment to patients is obvious. I’ve worked with James, who listens carefully to any of my concerns and then addresses them each week. They seem to demand excellence of themselves and this is shown in their mission to improve the lives if they’re patients. A very impressive practice!

I highly recommend Physical Therapy Specialists of Guilford, and specifically Jon Goldfarb. I had brain surgery this summer (age 33) that removed one of my balance nerves as well as a surgery-related stroke. Jon was extremely knowledgeable, with a clear grasp of the research, and very encouraging (without anything that sounded like false cheeriness). He was able to identify & address my various issues, recommended exercises that felt impactful, and helped me progress from using a walker (due to my concerns with both strength & balance) to hiking (one of my favorite activities) with confidence. I’d absolutely work with Jon for future physical therapy needs.

With ample physical therapy experience, both in home and outpatient, I offer my highest recommendation for Physical Therapy Specialists in Guilford. I have two hip replacements and one knee replacement. In all three cases I have worked with the same therapist at PT Specialists for outpatient Physical Therapy. Obviously, I have been highly pleased with this work. They know the PT business inside and out – each time I manage to generate a new symptom, my therapist is able to provide an exercise targeted at relaxing or stretching the appropriate muscles, breaking up scar tissue, etc. I had a complication with my incision on the recent knee replacement and it was my PTS’ therapist who flagged this as a problem and suggested (demanded!) that I engage with my orthopedist before we could continue. Happily, my doctor responded with urgency and my medical team quickly got things under control. In addition to their actual knowledge and skills, I can’t say enough for how patient centric and service oriented PT Specialists is. They have assembled a team of therapists, assistants and administrators who well understand that their patients are in need of help and often uncertain or anxious. Uniformly (including my primary therapist, the occasional substitute, administrators and leadership), PTS is about listening to their patients and offering their guidance in language and challenge that fits that patient’s needs and capabilities. This approach to service carries over to the challenging and confusing arena of qualifying for benefits from the myriad of insurance options. PT Specialists are wizards at the complex rules of insurance, including with Medicare, advantage plans, etc. Once we established what my insurance would cover and the relevant co-pay, all I had to worry about was setting up the appointments – and doing the exercises. Recovering from joint replacement surgery involves managing a lot of pain as tissues are resettled after the operation and disturbed muscles are strengthened. My recovery in all three replacements has been better than norms for these procedures and I absolutely believe the reliable and effective PT is the primary factor. I recommend Physical Therapy Specialists without reservation.

I am in my mid 60”s and recently developed a pain in my lower back that progressed to the point that, at times, I could barely move. My brother recommended Physical Therapy Specialist. My specialist Jon Rothfarb diagnosed the problem as starting in my feet and manifesting itself in my lower back. It was coming from walking, I walk a lot. It is the source of the physical, mental and spiritual health for myself and my dogs. Walking is who I am. Jon said “Okay, let’s get you walking again”. It didn’t happen overnight but in relatively short order I am able to walk as much as I like! I recently enjoyed a beautiful 8 mile fall hike in the Adirondacks that was spectacular, the next day I walked 18 holes at a gorgeous course. I find the results nothing short of remarkable!

Michael O. has been helping me recover from an unimaginable injury. His compassion, empathy, and ability to educate me along my recovery has been an experience that I will carry for a lifetime. Being in his hands during this most vulnerable, frightful time has been a gift. I know that I will need PT for a lifetime. I am grateful I have a relationship within PTS that I can trust and depend upon. This practice has a great reputation for hiring knowledgable, well-trained, compassionate therapists.

The service I received regarding PT interventions was outstanding. However, the billing circumstances were completely unethical. I decided to go to this office specifically because they were in my Insurance Network. The owner began providing me service, but transferred my case to his new employee. The new employee was not in network. So suddenly I was billed with a $200 co-pay!! I paid a portion before I figured out what happened. The practice was not responsive to my requests to return my money and drop remaining bill. I have had to work with the CT Health Care Advocate to resolve things.

Have been getting great treatment from Matthew L., under supervision of Paul and James. All three are extremely knowledgeable and skilled. Happy I found this place.

Dave is hands down (no pun intended) one of the best Physical Therapists on the east coast. This guy has great hands and good bedside manner as well (which is hard to find around here). I've seen him for my lower back and my neck, both of which he was able to fix within 2 sessions. I can't say enough good words about him.
