A very neat critical access hospital! It’s plagued by the dysfunctional US healthcare system that disfranchises ordinary people from accessing health services across the country, while enriching a few. The leadership team, staff, and patients here in this American heartland are absolutely lovely! Really enjoy my short time working here. Hope all the rural communities alike that are decimated by globalization, automation and depopulation can be revitalized someday!

I went here as a self pay patient. Was told the price for the services I was there for was $841 so I paid the bill in full that day. Then a few months later I start getting bills from another company for the same thing. So I went to discuss my situation with the people at the hospital and was told that they outsourced part of there job and now I owe them money too. When I asked why I was not informed of this upfront they told me "sorry I geuss we should start telling people about that"

The ER clerk was rude and hateful . My wife spent over hour waiting in the worse pain and 2 people that checked in after her , was sent back so wife had to leave and suffer . Bravo you all done such a wonderful job making someone suffer . What is the point of going to ER with medical issues if your just gonna ignore the patient .

Absolutely horrible. Do not go here unless you want to be paying thousands in surprise bills that Pershing just randomly pushes upon you. Haven't been there in years and now I am being forced to pay thousands of dollars for something that should've been charged to insurance. DO NOT GO HERE. Friend of mine had over 7 thousand dollars stolen from her because of this greedy hospital. Went here due to my niece having heart problems, they sent us home with nothing more than a pat on the back and some pain medicine, that following day she crashed overnight. My niece almost died because of this place.

THE ER AND DR. SYLVARA WERE EXCELLENT AND DESERVE 5 STARS. THIS REVIEW HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE ER CARE!! The one star rating is regarding inpatient care after dad was admitted from the ER. Dad was inpatient for 4 or 5 days. His room was freezing and the heat was not working so they brought a space heater into the room. The tv was not working and the window blinds would not open so dad was left in a cold, dark room. There were other rooms vacant but staff seemed uninterested in moving him to another room. In fact, most of the staff seemed irritated if you asked them a question or God forbid a blanket for dad! The inpatient doctor, i cant even pronounce his name, Dr. Chukwu, was terrible. It was brought to the attention of the inpatient doctor and the inpatient staff several times that dad was not being given the correct meds and they were using an old medication list even though his updated list was brought to them, they ignored us. His condition deteriorated and his care was terribly mismanaged. We insisted that he be transferred immediately and was told hes too unstable. We insisted again and they finally called the helicopter. The helicopter staff seemed unimpressed with the inpatient care he had received. The receiving hospital quickly diagnosed that dad was having a heart attack which the Pershing inpatient doctor had missed. Blood work and an EKG was not performed on dads final day at Pershing and should have been. The hospital he was transferred to in kansas city made it very clear that dads inpatient "care" at Pershing had been mismanaged, was negligent and Pershing had failed to recognize that he was having a heart attack. By the time he got to Kansas City, there was too much damage and he passed away a day later.

We took my 6 month old here last night around 9:30 pm due to labored breathing. We were traveling so this is not near our home. I was impressed how quickly we were taken back and he was examined. This feeling quickly disappeared. The nurse we had admitted he wasn’t familiar with babies but was kind. This is where things rapidly got worse. The Doctor came in and while he was examining him, my son started seizing. HE DID NOT EVEN NOTICE. He continued with his exam to the mouth until I finally spoke up and said he was seizing. Limbs were stiff , shaking , pale and eyes to the back of the head. I’m not even a medical professional and I knew it was a seizure. The doctor then called out to the nurses what he needed. Not a single one of them moved a muscle. My mom had to go out of the room and basically yell at them saying he’s seizing. They still took their sweet time and then couldn’t find what they needed. At this point I was fearing for my sons life because nobody was taking anything seriously. I asked if I needed to call an ambulance ( because clearly my son wasn’t in good hands ) and the nurse laughed. Needless to say, I lost my composure. It gets better. The same nurse who laughed , couldn’t get a vein for his IV. He was poked so many times he was screaming and the sheet on the cot was soaked with his blood to the point they had to change it. Once she finally got the vein ( which ended up being in his freaking head ) the ambulance was called and heading out way. THANK GOD. during our wait , the first nurse we had went to give him Tylenol and literally choked him. He gave almost half the dose straight on and my son gagged because it was too much too fast. I was scared for my sons life and I would NEVER go here again.

Early in the morning (around 5am) on 10/19/2021, I had to go to the emergency department. My nurse was 5 star all the way! I wish I could remember her name. You could tell she truly cared! This was HUGE for me as in the past the ER staff has been horrible. They have treated us like we didnt need to be there and /or like we were there just for the pain meds. When you are having a medical issue, enough to warrant an ER visit, this is very frustrating! We have said die on the way to Macon don't go to Pershing for ANYTHING! I was in substantial pain and the ER staff helped me figure out what was wrong. The first doctor got the tests that I needed ordered and the 2nd doctor helped me get set up for the next hospital I was headed to for surgery. The ER staff was extremely professional which helped ease my anxiety! Thank you all for the awesome care!

Would just like to thank all of the ER staff and Docs. My father is alive and well today because of your fast moving and critical thinking skills in recognizing and acting on his need for a higher level of care on 1/28/23. Thank you for your skills and dedication to the health and needs of the community that you serve!
