This review is not about the clinic itself but rather the Stanford Appointment Center, which handles scheduling for this clinic. The level of incompetence and lack of urgency we've encountered is beyond frustrating. It took nearly three weeks for the so-called "referral center" to process an urgent referral—one that was marked URGENT and sent three times via fax and email. According to the clinic's own policy, it should have been processed within 1-2 business days. For those agonizing weeks, we called every single day, only to be brushed off with, "Call tomorrow." Meanwhile, appointments with their three gynecology specialists were available, but we were told they couldn’t schedule anything until the referral was processed. Despite repeated phone calls to both the clinic and the "referral center," we were constantly given the runaround. Finally, after what felt like an endless barrage of calls, the referral was processed. We were relieved, thinking we could finally book an appointment for our daughter, who has been going to the ER every week for severe pain—pain her primary care doctor insisted required a specialist's attention. But when we tried to schedule an appointment with Dr. Lisa Chao, Diana Atashroo, or Dr. Deirdre A. Lum at the Fibroid Center in Palo Alto, we were told, "Sorry, there are no appointments available." Not even for next year. No appointments. Period. The frustration we've experienced dealing with this group is like nothing we've ever encountered at any clinic or doctor’s office. They have absolutely no sense of urgency or empathy and clearly no idea how to properly manage patient care. Their only suggestion? To book an appointment with a generalist at their clinic—clearly, just to make more money. But if we wanted a generalist, we wouldn’t have needed a referral in the first place. Our daughter was already referred by a generalist to see a specialist. That was the whole reason we went through the headache of getting the referral processed! The entire experience has been nothing short of maddening, and we are still without a solution for our daughter, who continues to suffer without being seen by a specialist. The lack of accountability, efficiency, and patient care in this system is completely unacceptable.
