I started working with Julian at the start of my training for the Berlin marathon in the summer of 2024. I was starting to build my mileage back and was experiencing lower back tightness and shin pain (something that I’ve had in several stints ever since doing endurance racing). Would totally recommend peak physio to anyone in SF, especially runners who have very specific strength needs and anxiety about any hiccups in training! Julian is so good at listening to your individual needs and coming up with a flexible care plan that works with your training. Almost immediately, I was able to work through the back stiffness, using Julian for both in-person bodywork and at-home programming. The app he uses makes it very easy to follow the exercises and stay consistent/motivated with daily routine. Julian was super responsive to my own specific injury history and used this to help come up with the right set of exercises to treat my shin pain. This is the first marathon training block in a while that I’ve gone through pain-free! I was able to run the biggest volume I’ve ever reached (50-60mpw) and balance complimentary strength. I even visited Julian a few times just to get body work before/after races to keep my legs healthy.

Have had a great experience working with Julian the last 3 months. He is super knowledgeable and his personalized approach helped me progress back to working out and running with confidence. Highly recommend!

Julian is the absolute best. I was in a serious car accident in December 2016 that lead to multiple surgeries and the rearranging of muscles in my right leg. Prior to the accident I was an ultramarathon runner. The doctors told me I would not be able to run again after all I had been through. After going to "regular" PT to get me back to being mobile I found Julian to become an athlete again. We spent a lot of time together figuring out how to get my body to create power and strength to be able to really move. I still remember the day I asked him when he thought I would be able to run again to which he replied, "How about now?" and pushed me out the door to run down the block. There was still more work ahead but since then I have been back for other sports related issues and have recommended lots of people to him, all of whom swear by his care.

Highly recommend Julian for any PT needs. His attention, care, and positive attitude made all the difference in my journey through not just one but two major recoveries - first a broken scapula from skateboarding then working through long-term knee pain which finally unlocked running for me again. I'm much more active and healthy thanks to his expertise and encouragement - super grateful!

I could not recommend Julian more highly. In May of 2022, I came to Julian unable to bare weight on or bend my knee after a skiing accident. Just a few months later, I was hiking 5 miles in a day with a 50 lb pack on my back. A few months after that, I was back skiing, with my knee feeling as good as ever. Julian not only healed my knee, but he equipped me with the tools to necessary to maintain my strength and mobility long term. I never felt rushed in our appointments. He always listened patiently, and gave great advice and pointers, which is something I never felt during my time in orthopedic care. I hope I never need his help again, but if I do, I know I will be in good hands at Peak Physio.

Julian helped me rehab a frustrating leg overuse injury with less than 2 months before my first marathon. During my month of PT, Julian taught me how to manage my training loads, oversaw my exercises, and gave me recommendations for what home equipment to buy should injuries persist. I was able to finish the Avenue of the Giants marathon last year and appreciate Julian’s professionalism! He makes sure his clients leave his care with more tools and knowledge to prevent future injuries.

Julian absolutely transformed my approach to exercise, PT, and even my own body! I am a runner / triathlete with chronic pains and injuries, a history of PT that didn't move the needle, and a skepticism that I would ever be able to use my body the way I wanted. From day 1, Julian took a holistic approach, helping me strengthen by introducing me to lifting. He basically served as my therapist when I would come in discouraged from pain, guiding me on when pain was a huge problem that would derail my progress versus when it was just a signal to dial back a bit but keep moving. Now when I feel pain I don't panic, and I don't lose months of exercise and happiness because of tweaks and aches. I'm running at almost my goal mileage within ~6 months of working with Julian and, an even better gift, have a healthier attitude toward my body.

I worked with Julian for over a year on lower back pain and found his approach to be holistic and effective. He doesn't just do hands-on work and strength training but will have extensive conversations with you about your goals, life style choices, and effective strategies for a pain-free day-to-day.
