First off, the front desk lady, Pat… is lovely. That’s where it stops! The remaining staff members have done absolutely nothing to show that they are properly taking care of not only my Father in law, but many other residents. I have received multiple calls in regards to missed medications, ignored request for breathing treatments and out right disrespect. I have personally witnessed the neglect and careless behaviors of the staff members during my visits there and have forced myself to remain calm… but here’s the thing… you are being paid to do a job, you don’t care. You are collecting insurance money, funds from Medicare and personal insurance. If your assistance wasn’t needed, the patients wouldn’t be there, if you are not a caring understanding and professional, don’t take the job. A proper elder abuse number will be posted asap!

After years living in the memory care unit, my mother in law passed away early this morning. We have felt nothing less than family and love from her caregivers, admin staff and other families these several years. This has been her home. I cannot say enough kind words.

Owen Valley Rehab and Healthcare facility has been a good experience for our family. The staff is excellent and very caring. We are very impressed with the activities that they provide for the residents. They have been very welcoming to family and visitors. The facility is bright and cheery. Mom seems very comfortable and at ease. The decision to transition a loved one from home to a facility is never easy. Thank you to the staff for helping us with a difficult process.

Unless your goal is to experience neglect and abuse, I would not take your relative or anyone you care about to this facility. My husband’s grandmother experienced the worst care possible in her last days alive on this earth. Not only that, the family was maliciously lied to and misled when they tried to transfer my grandmother to a better place. While my husband was at his grandma’s bedside watching her wince in pain, her hospice meds were not being administered bc the staff had canceled her hospice care. My family witnessed residents being left for 6 hours or more without moving. My grandma’s roommate was sitting in a chair alone for an entire day with no diaper changes. Breakfast trays were left until late at night, vomit was lying on the floor untouched, and other atrocities are the norm. Residents are not turned every two hours according to proper protocols. The ubiquitous ulcer that my husband’s grandmother developed went to the bone, leading to an infection, which the staff refused to treat. Despite my husband’s grandmother owning a better chair purchased by my mother in law, the staff sat my husband’s grandma in a very hard and uncomfortable chair for HOURS, which contributed to her painful bedsores. The staff mocked my family and even told my husband’s grandmother to “Enjoy hospice, Jackie!” In a twisted and sick manner. Meanwhile, because they were having an open house, they decorated the center with fake physical therapy props and games, making it look like it was a good place. During the open house, more “undesirable” looking or sounding residents were moved to a room where they wouldn’t be seen or heard by potential customers. It is obvious that money is the only thing this place cares about. Thankfully my grandmother was finally able to move to the IU Hospice House and receive proper care. Please do not send your loved one to Owen Valley.

Horrific experience. I tried to report Elder Abuse. The phone number plastered all over the facility to report elder abuse is a non working number. Don’t believe the marketing video, it is a sham. Our family was at the facility the day they made the video. They hid the less desirable residents behind fire doors. They used two rooms that had been filled with junk near the entrance to make it appear they paint and do puzzles with the elderly. The resident room they showcased is a total lie. The first shift crew does enough to stay legal. The 2nd shift, especially weekends are terrible. If you want you loved one to sit for 5-6hours at a time in a dirty diaper and not receive any checks or care, this is the facility for you. The CNA’s spends more time on their phones or in the newly renovated lobby than they do working(add in several smoke breaks and time outside). God forbid you complain about the lack of care. 1,000 excuses, and “I am sorry you feel that way” is how they respond to facts and evidence of neglect. UTI’s, bed sores, falls, and rapid weight loss are common! A large % of the staff are mean and spiteful. The Indiana Dept of Health is investigating this facility. From the Director down to CNA’s this place is a disaster.

My sister Lori (Margaret) came there on Friday and so far she has had a great experience. I have faith that this facility will be able to help her get back to herself and she will be able to come home soon! Thank you so much for taking such great care of my sister! It was so comforting to see the smiling faces with the staff. Also it was very clean and didn't have an awful smell to the facility.
