Husband went in for an injured leg and not only was the doctor not listening to him about his medical history, he surely didn’t care or pay attention. Gave him a medication that someone with an acute kidney injury shouldn’t be taking, but the referral was for a pediatric orthopedist. Quit being professional box clickers and pay attention to what you’re doing! Gonna kill someone not paying attention!

Absolute worst experience with a hospital ED. Obviously they are unaware of what an EMTALA violation is as today I was refused entry into the emergency department and told that there was no one on staff to do a fetal heart tone check. Literally, this should be something that can be done by anyone with a nursing degree. I've even done them with my at-home doppler. I was not so kindly told to drive to their sister facility in Mississippi! It's truly disheartening that this supposed facility is in a community with individuals who need and deserve quality service, but after today's visit, I'm almost certain that they can't/won't be able to receive it here. Not sure that it will matter but I plan to call corporate as well.

Thank you for the care that you gave me on 5/11/2023. This is not my first experience with the emergency room staff. They have always been polite, professional and attentive to my needs. Thank you for a job well done.

This is a bullet wound and Band-Aid hospital, meaning, if you need patching up, it will more than suffice. If it's life or death, keep driving to Meridian or Mobile. My mother went with a severe case of what was later diagnosed with pneumonia. The ER doctor on call told her she had the common cold and she would be better within 7-10 days. He told her there was nothing he could do for her. She was having trouble breathing all night, so she went to the doctor in the morning (this ER trip was on a Sunday night) and her pulse oxygen level was in the 80's and she was extremely ill. The problem with this hospital is that it is a remote outpost in a tiny town. Doctor's get shuffled about and shipped in on call from Mobile, Birmingham...you never know what quality of healthcare you are going to get. There are some great nurses, but it's a gamble using this hospital for anything life-threatening, and a dangerous one at that.

My 18 year old son fell down a 20 foot cliff after 8 weeks of having his tendons and ligaments reattached in his ankle. His ankle was swelled 3 times the normal size and he was screaming in pain. I was in Clarke County with his insurance card. They sat him in the waiting room and REFUSED to allow him to see a doctor before I got there with his insurance card. I called and tried to give them the number over the phone and told her I was on my way with the card. She still refused to allow him to be seen before she had the insurance card. After driving an hour to get there she told me she had two ambulances pull in after my son got there and it could be up to 3 hours before they got him back. I put him in my car and drove him to Grove Hill Memorial Hospital and got service with a smile.

My daughter couldn’t walk and was dizzy and has a history of strokes and all of this was told to the doctor and he sent her home for constipation! Took her to UAB the next morning because it had gotten even worse and just like I told the doctor she WAS having a stroke!! I will never bring my family here again!! DO BETTER

I don’t do reviews, but I am today about dr lex mahler. I am a local resident. If you are dealing with anything psychiatric, I wouldn’t go to this hospital just because it’s a hit or miss if the doctor cares enough to do his research or not. It’s a band aid ER like someone said before, but I haven’t had an experience like I did yesterday. I’ve suffered from anxiety for 15+ years and some days it worse than others, and was advised to reach for emergency help because my anxiety tends to make me procrastinate, and overload myself without realizing it. I don’t like emergency rooms, and logically I know what anxiety is and that it’s not always harmful, however if someone in the community is giving you the validation to seek medical attention then it’s our responsibility to take care of ourselves for future reference so it won’t affect yourself any longer than it has to if you can help it or anyone else. The nurses are very easy to talk to and understanding. One in particular was Rusty Flowers, and I made sure I remembered his name. He knew from the get go that I didn’t want to be there, and could finish my sentence on how I felt when taking notes, because he could tell I was too uncomfortable to elaborate, I’ve never met him before, and wasn’t given a reason to believe he had a psych degree & hate to sound dramatic, but I left there literally balling my eyes out and the only thing that kept me from not giving up on another doctor and regretting going in the ER was knowing there was at least one person in there that understood and didn’t make me feel crazier than I already did before walking in there. It’s one thing to not understand, but the very least you can do is TRY to especially when your getting paid to do so....not cut someone off and have your mind made up about how you want to feel about something....and what you really don’t do, is not interfere with meds someone is prescribed by a psychiatrist and tell the patient to discontinue them because of the “confusing” qualities to escape the topic and reality of someone dealing with real life confusion or anxiety....it can be debilitating enough at times....friendly staff also

Worst experience by far!! Came here with abscess tooth, im not just saying a minor situation but my head was swelld up like a baloon and the nurse first comments to me was we dont give out pain meds! I dont believe you are supposed to judge everyone based off your little small town familiarity waste mentality major waste of time i realy in my heart dont think these miserable people care about people honest to god..
