On September 5, 2020 my brother ended in the hospital, we were told he was in a diabetic coma. That same night he suffered several strokes. He had to be intubated. His kidneys stop working so they had to do dialysis on him for 3 times a week for a month. At one point my dad and I were told that he might not make it or that if he did he would be Bedbound. He fought for his life and got a bit better. His kidneys got better and he was stable. On October 13, 2020 he got sent to North Valley Nursing Center, Where he would start physical therapy and have the care he needed. He learn to walk and talk. When he was finally able to talk he told us he couldn’t see. They took him to the eye doctor on May 16, 2021 where they pronounced him legally blind. He didn’t let that defeat him. He push himself and never gave up. On February 11, 2022 he was able to finally come home. He still has a lot of physical therapy and a long way to go, but now he can do it at home. I’m so proud of my brother 🥰 and Thankful to God 😇 I will forever be grateful to the team that worked by my brother side. Thank you North Valley Nursing Center for not giving up on my brother 🙏🏼 I want to thank Nursing: Runette Weegee Brenda Michael Adrinann Maria Mario Armondo Bella I want to thank Respiratory therapy: Jimmy Shannon Shanel Alexis Wynette I want to thank OT/PT/ST Dept Richard Lisa Steven Cheyenne Kyle Abby And all the students

I really would not recommend this place, unless you are ready to give up on your loved one. The nurses were unfortunately the main issue. My father and family had a horrible experience before my fathers passing. The amount of times we mentioned he cannot eat hard food because he didn't have teeth to chew. Constantly the same food was given. The stories of night time nurses pining him down and jabbing him constantly with needles, to only find tons of burses in the morning of many attempts of blood samples. The irony of visitors not being able to care for family in the facility, when nurses are short staffed. There is a lot and to be here typing it out is painful. I hope management and the professional doctors can turn this around. The goal should be to recover patients instead of pushing them to their death. He was treated like a hospice patient when he all believed he had a road to recovery. I cannot take away from all the nurses, as my father did mention some of the lovely caring nurses.

We do not recommend this facility. After my sister's first night she claimed someone held her down so hard with their knee on her chest that she thought he almost broke her ribs. She fought him off and he stopped, but then he slapped her. She has no history of ever imagining anything like this before or since, so we are pretty sure it did happen. She could not stop talking about it for an entire day. The administrator said they would investigate and switched her to another room, and had no repeat incident. But the facility as a whole was unresponsive to her needs in many other ways. It wasn't uncommon to have to wait over 30 min for an answer to the call button. The greatest amount of attention she got from them was on the day she was being sent back to the hospital because her condition relapsed. It was obvious that they were spiffing her up for the hospital visit (making sure their bandages and such were cleaned and done properly). The administration puts on a show for newcomers and inspectors too, but is understaffed and gives only just minimal care and offers almost zero rehab services. They will say the patient gets 5 sessions per week of physical and occupational therapy, but what they don't tell you is that the PT and OT come together and stay about 20 min. per day. (not enough time to even get to know the patient or do any real good for the patient) Thank God I was there almost the whole time to witness what was happening, because none of the staff noticed her rapid decline of condition (over a three day period). The therapists thought she just needed to learn how to breath and relax better. The nurses thought she just shook a lot and so should learn how to "go" in a bedpan or diaper ...and they'll take care of it later. The administration thought I was a pain in the ____. And they were actually quite confrontational to my being there to help my sister. But the fact was I probably saved my sister's life by being there, as she was getting a relapse of meningitis...which none of the staff were able to observe.

I feel so blessed that my father has been placed in a facility with kind hearted, respectful and overall patient indivualds all working together to provide the best care for our family members there. Staff is very communicative with my fathers treatment plan and i can tell all the effort everyone in his care team is doing to make him the most comfortable. Nurses and cnas deserve the world they are so sweet and attentive.

My name is Annice. I had a stroke on September 28 and I was hospitalized. After being hospitalized I came to North Valley Nursing Center in tujunga this is an extremely good nursing facility, the nurses care was superb. I have a case manager here by the name of Bella who took extremely good care of me when I was transferred to the nursing care center. My girl looked out for me. She made sure I had a place to be discharged to where I can have home health arranges. The environment at north valley was superb with excellent care.

This place is the absolute best! My dad needed to be in a skilled nursing facility until he was stable enough to go home. The last time he was in a nursing facility he almost died. And the time before that he had a not so pleasant experience. But North Valley's treatment of my dad was exceptional. They treated him with kindness and respect. They took care of his needs without question. My dad loves ice and every day when he woke up and with every meal, he had his cups full of ice. My dad never felt like he was a burden to anyone, which at times he has felt from others. I want to thank you for what you were able to provide for my father. WE will forever be grateful.
